Recursion at the crossroads of sequence modeling, random trees, stochastic algorithms and martingales

This monograph synthesizes several studies spanning from dynamical systems in the statistical analysis of sequences, to analysis of algorithms in random trees and discrete stochastic processes. These works find applications in various fields ranging from biological sequences to linear regression models, branching processes, through functional statistics and estimates of risk indicators for insurances. All the established results use, in one way or another, the recursive property of the structure under study, by highlighting invariants such as martingales, which are at the heart of this monograph, as tools as well as objects of study.
Using Automatic Morphological Tools to Process Data from a Learner Corpus of Hungarian

The aim of this article is to show how automatic morphological tools originally used to analyze native speaker data can be applied to process data from a learner corpus of Hungarian. We collected written data from 35 students majoring in Hungarian studies at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. The data were analyzed by magyarlanc, a sentence splitter, morphological analyzer, POS-tagger and dependency parser, which found 667 unknown word forms. We investigated the recommendations made by the Hungarian spellchecker hunspell for these unknown words and the correct forms were manually chosen. On time-harmonic Maxwell equations with nonhomogeneous conductivities : Solvability and FE-approximation

The solvability of time-harmonic Maxwell equations in the 3D-case with nonhomogeneous conductivities is considered by adapting Sobolev space technique and variational formulation of the probJem in question. Moreover, a finite element approximation is presented in the 3D·case together with an error estimate in the energy norm. Some remarks are given to the 2D-problem arising from geophysics. peerReviewed

Factor selection procedures in a Google Earthtm aided landslide susceptibility model: application to the Beiro river basin (Spain)

A procedure to select the controlling factors connected to the slope instability has been defined. It allowed to assess the landslide susceptibility in the Rio Beiro basin (about 10 km2) over the north-eastern area of the city of Granada (Spain). Field and remote (Google EarthTM) recognition techniques allowed to generate a landslide inventory consisting in 127 phenomena.
