The Extracellular δ-Domain is Essential for the Formation of CD81 Tetraspanin Webs

AbstractCD81 is a ubiquitously expressed member of the tetraspanin family. It forms large molecular platforms, so-called tetraspanin webs that play physiological roles in a variety of cellular functions and are involved in viral and parasite infections. We have investigated which part of the CD81 molecule is required for the formation of domains in the cell membranes of T-cells and hepatocytes. Surprisingly, we find that large CD81 platforms assemble via the short extracellular δ-domain, independent from a strong primary partner binding and from weak interactions mediated by palmitoylation. SARS-CoV-2 envelope protein topology in eukaryotic membranes

Coronavirus E protein is a small membrane protein found in the virus envelope. Different coronavirus E proteins share striking biochemical and functional similarities, but sequence conservation is limited. In this report, we studied the E protein topology from the new SARS-CoV-2 virus both in microsomal membranes and in mammalian cells. Experimental data reveal that E protein is a single-spanning membrane protein with the N-terminus being translocated across the membrane, while the C-terminus is exposed to the cytoplasmic side (Nt lum /Ct cyt ). Visual Contrast Modulates Operant Learning Responses in Larval Zebrafish.

The larval zebrafish is a promising vertebrate model organism to study neural mechanisms underlying learning and memory due to its small brain and rich behavioral repertoire. Here, we report on a high-throughput operant conditioning system for zebrafish larvae, which can simultaneously train 12 fish to associate a visual conditioned pattern with electroshocks. We find that the learning responses can be enhanced by the visual contrast, not the spatial features of the conditioned patterns, highlighted by several behavioral metrics. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan visuaalista ajattelua sekä sen merkitystä kertovan elokuvan näyttämöllepanon suunnittelu- ja hahmotusprosessissa. Visuaalisella ajattelulla käsitetään mielikuvat, visuaalisen havaitsemisen Rudolf Arnheimin teorian mukaan sekä visuaaliseen kerrontaan liittyvän luovan, produktiivisen ajattelun. Il nostro obiettivo è stato quello di analizzare la relazione tra livelli plasmatici di VitaminaD (VitD) e valori di pressione arteriosa clinica ed ambulatoria in ipertesi essenziali e di identificare un’eventuale associazione fra l’ipertensione e i polimorfismi del gene VDR, FokI e BsmI. CASISTICA E METODI. Abbiamo arruolato 71 ipertesi essenziali e 72 controlli di età compresa fra 18 e 75 anni.
