Problems of the Polish labour market against the backgrounds of the EU countries after 2004
2011
The situation in the labour market in the contemporary world is the subject of continual surveys and analyses. Particular attention in those surveys is focused on unemployment continuing over long-time that occurs despite governments of the majority of countries undertaking continual efforts aiming at liquidating or at least limiting it. The main goal of the paper is to present the current problems of the labour market in Poland and other European Union countries that developed under the influence of the global economic crisis. An attempt at presenting the current situation and selected characteristics of the labour market in Poland developed under the influence of the conditions existing a…
Evaluation of microbial diversity during the manufacture of Fior di Latte di Agerola, a traditional raw milk pasta-filata cheese of the Naples area
2006
Microbial diversity of the raw milk for the production of Fior di Latte di Agerola and its changes during cheesemaking were studied. Viable counts showed that at the end of curd ripening, loads of lactic acid bacteria, both mesophilic and thermophilic rods and cocci, higher than those commonly evidenced in similar cheeses produced by using natural or commercial starters, were detected. Identification of 272 isolates, supported by molecular diagnostic aids, evidenced representative cultures of a high number of bacterial taxa of interest as participating in the process, although most of the isolates belonged to Lactococcus lactis and Lactobacillus helveticus species. RAPD-PCR and REA-PFGE bio…
Are Pseudosciences Like Seagulls? A Discriminant Metacriterion Facilitates the Solution of the Demarcation Problem
2019
In this article, I develop a philosophical framework, or ‘metacriterion’, for the demarcation of pseudoscience. Firstly, ‘gradualist demarcation’ is discussed in depth, considering an approach to t...
Centri storici manomessi: “antichi” come nuovi!
2012
The chapter presents the results of urban planning in Italy since 1950 and introduces the theories developed by Muratori and Caniggia for the restoration of historical centers. The paper critically shows some examples of typological restoration and introduces the debate that has developed around the outcomes of interventions.
The reason for a project that was never performed: Alvar Aalto and the residential complex in Pavia (1966-68)
2015
This paper aims to analyze the characteristics of the project for the residential complex "Patrizia" in Pavia by Alvar Aalto (1966-1968). Although not realized, for political and economic reasons, the project offers an interesting example of urban planning in an “organic key”. In particular, this paper aims to contextualize the project of Aalto in the broader context of the residential building in Italy after World War II, when the problems of reconstruction and "home" are the heart of the debate on architecture. The project, in fact, takes place in the years immediately following the experiments of the social housing plan INA CASA (1949-63), which - with differences in design and architect…
In situ study of the sintering of a lead phosphovanadate in an Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope
2011
cited By 3; International audience; The in situ sintering of a powder of Pb3(VO4) 1.6(PO4)0.4 composition was performed in an Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope. The electric current induced by the electron beam was found to reduce the effective temperature of sintering as well as to accelerate the kinetics of shrinkage of a cluster composed of sub-micrometric grains of material. The presence of the residual current flow in the cluster during observation for in situ experiments helps to reduce the apparent sintering temperatures from 50 to 150 °C compared to conventional heating conditions without current. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. Chemical Correlations Between Industrial Curds and Final Cheeses. Can Cheesemakers Standardise Productions?
2016
The chemical composition of milks and curds influences the microbial ecology and chemical features of produced cheeses. This statement is quite obvious because ‘normal’ cheeses—products with a prevailing ingredient, milk—are obtained by means of the transformation of the main raw material and the addition of minor components. Because of the possible scarcity of readily available milk in many regions or economic areas, the industry of milk and dairy products, including cheeses, has improved the production of ready-to-use curds. These products, also named ‘industrial curds’, are produced exclusively for further cheesemaking processes. For this reason, ready-to-use curds are pre-packaged with …
