The Italian Supreme Court has…

Les systèmes de fosses profondes à la Pré- et Protohistoire : cartographie des fosses mésolithiques et des Schlitzgruben à l’échelle nationale
2016
A nation-wide project of mapping deep pits dating to Pre- and Protohistory in continental France was launched by INRAP in 2015. Positioned at the interface between regional projects, on pits with V-, Y- and W-shaped profile (Schlitzgruben) as well as on deep pits dated to the Mesolithic, and nation-wide studies carried out by the INRAP (such as those focusing on the Bronze Age and Early Iron Age), the current project aims to bring together data and actors within the field of rescue archaeology in order to create an operational mapping tool. Constructed on a rational basis combining four levels of information (operation, pit systems, pits, absolute dates), this tool should ensure the incorpo…

Molecular Signatures of Biogeochemical Transformations in Dissolved Organic Matter from Ten World Rivers
2016
Rivers carry large amounts of dissolved organic matter (DOM) to the oceans thereby connecting terrestrial and marine element cycles. Photo-degradation in conjunction with microbial turnover is considered a major pathway by which terrigenous DOM is decomposed. To reveal globally relevant patterns behind this process, we performed photo-degradation experiments and year-long bio-assays on DOM from ten of the largest world rivers that collectively account for more than one-third of the fresh water discharge to the global ocean. We furthermore tested the hypothesis that the terrigenous component in deep-sea DOM may be far higher than biomarker studies suggest, because of the selective photochemi…
Dicarbonylchloro(pentabenzylcyclopentadienyl)ruthenium as Racemization Catalyst in the Dynamic Kinetic Resolution of Secondary Alcohols
2009
Dicarbonylchloro(pentabenzylcyclopentadienyl)ruthenium has been prepared and its structure confirmed by X-ray analysis. This complex shows excellent catalytic activity and modest stability against air in racemization reactions of secondary alcohols. In Candida antarctica lipase B (CAL-B) catalyzed dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of 1-phenyl- and 1-(furan-2-yl)ethanol compounds, the new complex shows improved performance as an alcohol racemization catalyst in comparison with its well-known pentaphenylcyclopentadienyl analogue, hitherto considered as the leading catalyst candidate. Structure of keyhole limpet hemocyanin type 1 (KLH1) at 15 Å resolution by electron cryomicroscopy and angular reconstitution † 1 †This article is de…
1997
Abstract A three-dimensional reconstruction of keyhole limpet hemocyanin type 1 (KLH1) has been obtained using electron cryomicroscopy at liquid helium temperatures and single particle image processing. The use of a high-contrast embedding medium, 1% (w/v) glucose and 2% (w/v) ammonium molybdate (pH 7.0), enables high-resolution electron micrographs to be recorded close to focus, i.e. with excellent transfer of high-resolution information, while maintaining enough image contrast to localise the individual macromolecules in the images. When low-pass filtered to ∼45 A resolution, the new 15 A resolution reconstruction is very similar to the earlier reconstructions of gastropodan hemocyanins o…
Terpenoid Constituents ofZanthoxylum acanthopodiumDC. Leaves
2008
Abstract The chemical composition of the essential oil of Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC. leaves was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Fifty-eight compounds accounting for 75.6% of the oil were identified. The major compounds were linalool (14.3%), 9,12-octadecadien-ol (8.4%), 1,8-cineole (7.7%), 2-undecanone (7.3%), farnesol (3.6%), 9,12,15-octadecatrien-1-ol (3.2%) and β-caryophyllene (3.0%).
A histological study of a femur of Plagiosuchus, a Middle Triassic temnospondyl amphibian from southern GEmany, using thin sections and micro-CT scan…
2013
AbstractThe histology of a femur of Plagiosuchus, a Middle Triassic temnospondyl amphibian, is described on the basis of two supplementary methods: classic thin sectioning and micro-CT scanning. In addition, the effectiveness of high-resolution micro-CT scanning for histological analysis is assessed. A classic, mid-shaft thin section of the femur was prepared, but prior to slicing two micro-CT scans were made. One of these has an image stack of a total of 1,024 images in the horizontal plane and a slice thickness of 87.8 μm, so that the entire bone could be captured, while the second was at mid-shaft region only, yet with a higher resolution of 28.3 μm and an image stack of 787 images in th…
