Nursing interventions of choice for the prevention and treatment of suicidal behaviour: The umbrella review protocol

2022

Abstract Aim To determine which interventions, from a nursing perspective, can be considered as the interventions of choice for the prevention and treatment of suicidal behaviour. In this way, the umbrella review attempts to identify nursing interventions from the Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC) taxonomy with evidence for this purpose. Design Descriptive study protocol. Methods This umbrella review will consist of an extensive, systematic search of published systematic reviews and meta‐analyses of studies examining interventions of choice for the prevention and treatment of suicidal behaviour. A systematic search of papers indexed in PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Database of Systemati…

Definitions and measurement of health literacy in health and medicine research: a systematic review

2022

ObjectivesThe way health literacy is understood (conceptualised) should be closely linked to how it is measured (operationalised). This study aimed to gain insights into how health literacy is defined and measured in current health literacy research and to examine the relationship between health literacy definitions and instruments.DesignSystematic review in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement.Data sourcesThe MEDLINE, PsycINFO, ERIC and CINAHL databases were searched for articles published during two randomly selected months (March and October) in 2019.Eligibility criteriaWe included articles with a quantitative design that measur…

Valuation of Barrier Options in a Black-Scholes Setup with Jump Risk

1999

This paper discusses the pitfalls in the pricing of barrier options approximations of the underlying continuous processes via discrete lattice models. These problems are studied first in a Black-Scholes model. Improvements result from a trinomial model and a further modified model where price changes occur at the jump times of a Poisson process. After the numerical difficulties have been resolved in the Black-Scholes model, unpredictable discontinuous price movements are incorporated.

Victors, Vanquished and Neutrals: The Swedish Press and the Nuremberg Trial

2011

After the shock of the ghastly revelations from the liberated concentration camps began to wane in late spring 1945, there was little written on the Nazi genocide in the Swedish press until autumn 1945. As elsewhere, the attention and energies of the newspaper media were directed to covering other tumultuous events of the world. For example, the Swedish press followed closely the developments in its neighbouring countries — not least Finland, which seemed to be on the verge of a Soviet-instigated coup, and therefore caused a lot of anxiety and discussion in the Swedish press. In line with the concept of Nordic Brotherhood, as discussed in Chapter 3, the Swedish press functioned as a channel…

'How Might Students engage with broader cultural questions relating to the circulation consumption, censorship, and reception of Decadent texts?'

2022

This paper explores the distribution of ‘Decadence’ ‘France’ ‘Decadent’ ‘French’ in British newspapers between 1890 and 1899 by relying on britishnewspaperarchive.co.ok It shows how the adjective was variously used in different contexts and how French Decadence was considered between 1880 and 1900.Not all 'decadence'/'decadent' was Decadent.Conversely exploring 'Décadence' in French periodicals yields different results but both digital repositories used in this research show that the noun was first used in a historical context.

Impact of Demand Response Control Logic on Isolated Island's Distribution Networks

2019

The work presents the results of a study regarding the impact of some Demand Response control logics on an isolated distribution network. The proposed control is divided into precise steps in which the coordination between the general aggregator controller and the single local Energy Management Systems is developed and illustrated with details. The control is applied to the flexible loads and to the storage systems of photovoltaic plants installed at the end-users' houses and connected to the network. The study is carried out delivering a suitable network model of the island's system, with the implementation of load profiles for all the loads of the network for a total simulation time of 24…

Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw associated with implant and regenerative treatments : systematic review

2019

Background The aim of this study was to determine if the treatment with bisphosphonates other anti-resorptive and antiangiogenic agents influences the success of regenerative and / or implant treatments. Material and Methods We reviewed the literature from the last 5 years in the PubMed database, using the following words: “Sinus Floor Augmentation”[Mesh] OR “Dental Implants”[Mesh]) OR “Guided Tissue Regeneration”[Mesh]) AND “Osteonecrosis”[Mesh]. The articles were selected following the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were evaluated using the 22 items of the STROBE declaration. The following PICO clinical question was applied: Does the treatment with agents associated with drug osteon…

Osseointegration of miniscrews: a histomorphometric evaluation.

2007

SUMMARY Mini-implants and miniscrews are commonly used in orthodontics to provide additional temporary intraoral anchorage. Partial osseointegration represents a distinct advantage in orthodontic applications, allowing effective anchorage to be combined with easy insertion and removal. This article reports the histomorphometric fi ndings of the osseointegration of bracket screw bone anchors (BSBAs). In an experimental animal study, four BSBAs were inserted in the alveolar process of the lower jaw in each of fi ve male beagle dogs, aged 6.5 months from the same mother. Eleven screws were lost during the study, nine of them due to lack of primary stability. One screw was removed at the end of…

Atom- and Bond-Based 2D TOMOCOMD-CARDD Approach and Ligand-Based Virtual Screening for the Drug Discovery of New Tyrosinase Inhibitors

2008

Two-dimensional atom- and bond-based TOMOCOMD-CARDD descriptors and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) are used in this report to perform a quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) study of tyrosinase-inhibitory activity. A database of inhibitors of the enzyme is collected for this study, within 246 highly dissimilar molecules presenting antityrosinase activity. In total, 7 discriminant functions are obtained by using the whole set of atom- and bond-based 2D indices. All the LDA-based QSAR models show accuracies above 90% in the training set and values of the Matthews correlation coefficient (C) varying from 0.85 to 0.90. The external validation set shows globally good classifica…

Dietary fiber and health outcomes: an umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses

2018

Background Several studies have suggested that higher consumption of dietary fiber is beneficial for a variety of health outcomes. However, many results have been inconclusive and, to our knowledge, there has been no attempt to systematically capture the breadth of outcomes associated with dietary fiber intake or to systematically assess the quality and the strength of the evidence on the associations of dietary fiber intake and different health outcomes or medical conditions. Objective The aim of this study was to describe the diverse health outcomes convincingly associated with dietary fiber consumption. Design This was an umbrella review of systematic reviews with meta-analysis of observ…
