Obesity, eating disorders and unhealthy dieting practices among children and adolescents are alarming health concerns due to their high prevalence and adverse effects on physical and psychosocial health. We present the evidence that eating disorders and obesity can be managed or prevented using the same interventions in the pediatric age. In the presence of obesity in the pediatric age, disordered eating behaviors are highly prevalent, increasing the risk of developing eating disorders. The aim of our study was to assess nutritional intake and anthropometric statuses in schoolchildren to subsequently determine nutritional adequacy with Spanish Dietary Reference Intake (DRIs). The ANIVA study, a descriptive cross-sectional study, was conducted in 710 schoolchildren (6–9 years) in 2013–2014 in Valencia (Spain). Enzyme replacement therapy with agalsidase alfa in children with Fabry disease.

Aim: To assess the effects of enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) in children with Fabry disease. Methods: Safety and efficacy of ERT with agalsidase alfa, 0.2 mg/kg infused over 40 minutes every 2 weeks for 23 weeks, were studied in a multicentre open-label trial in nine boys and four girls. Median age at the start of the study was 11.0 years (range 3.5–18 years). Results: Fifty-four adverse events were reported in 11 patients. No serious adverse events related to ERT were reported. In order to increase fruit and vegetable (FV) intake, a subscription programme was initiated in 1996 and made nationwide in 2003, and a free programme (without parental payment) has been implemented nationwide from 2007. Prolonged enteral or parenteral nutrition in neonatal periods sometimes results in eating difficulties persisting for years, with reduced food intake through the oral route and thereby reduced stimulation of the oral cavity. Aiming at describing the consequences on oral physiology, saliva of 21 children with eating difficulties (ED) was compared to that of 23 healthy controls, using various omics and targeted methods.
