There is an emerging empirical evidence that patients with eating disorders have severe metacognitive concerns, i.e. ability to reflect on mental states. This single-case study aims to explore the relationship between limited metacognition and eating symptoms in six patients who attended a long-term group treatment. This study also aims at analysing the change of patients metacognition over the course of treatment. All the patients were female, with a mean age of 17 years. In this paper we compare interventions of the same group analyst in two different groups - a traditional slow-open group of six out-patients with Eating Disorders diagnosis (all female; age: 16-26) and a time-limited, group of eight outpatients (different in age and sex) with organic vision disturbances. Our aim was to see if the same group therapist adopts different therapeutic interpretative interventions in the two groups, depending on the aims of each group and the different patients’ diagnosis. A technique is described that allows a simple and safe temporary occlusion of the coronary artery in beating heart procedures using monofilament stay sutures underlaid with small pericardial pads. Postoperative serial levels of Troponin I remained low (<4 ng/L) and control angiography revealed no stenosis in the distal coronary artery.

We examine the clinical outcomes of the NeoChord procedure after failed conventional mitral valve repair. Theoretical study of a hydration mechanism in an enaminone pro-drug prototype

Enaminones may act as pro-drugs releasing via proton-catalyzed hydrolysis a primary amine, which may be an actual drug. A hydration mechanism of prototype enaminone (2-propenal-3-amine) has been subjected to quantum chemical studies. All involved compounds were investigated in a search for the most likely reactive form. Results revealed that the proposed reaction pathway is thermodynamically possible.

In this Letter, the effect of F(4)-TCNQ insertion at the anode/hole transport layer (HTL) interface was studied on joule heating and the lifetime of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Joule heating was found to reduce significantly (pixel temperature decrease by about 10 K at a current density of 40 mA/cm(2)) by this insertion. However, the lifetime was found to reduce significantly with a 1 nm thick F(4)-TCNQ layer, and it improved by increasing the thickness of this layer. Thermal diffusion of F(4)-TCNQ into HTL leads to F(4)-TCNQ ionization by charge transfer, and drift of these molecules into the emissive layer caused faster degradation of the OLEDs.
