Design of Porphyrin-dota-Like Scaffolds as All-in-One Multimodal Heterometallic Complexes for Medical Imaging
2013
A series of four multimodal ligands incorporating one porphyrin moiety and one or more dota-like macrocycles all-in-one in the same molecular architecture have been synthesized and full characterized. The corresponding gadolinium(III) complexes were also synthesized and heterometallic complexes incorporating both gadolinium(III) and copper(II) ions were prepared as potential MRI/PET multimodal contrast agents. One ligand (L4) includes an amine moiety that can be activated for easy conversion into an isothiocyanate group for further anchoring to a biological vector. Preliminary relaxivity, cytotoxicity, and MRI studies showed that the complexes developed in this work are very promising medic…
Synthesis and Characterization of Copper Complexes Containing the Tripodal N7 Ligand Tris{2-[(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amino]ethyl}amine (=N′-(Pyridin-2-yl…
2005
The stability constants of the CuII chelates with the tripodal heptadentate ligand tris{2-[(2-pyridylmethyl)amino]ethyl}amine (=N′-(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-N,N-bis{2-[(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amino]ethyl}ethane-1,2-diamine; tpaa), determined by potentiometry and UV spectrometry, show the formation of [Cu(tpaaH)]3+ and [Cu(tpaa)]2+ species. In the solid state, two mononuclear CuII compounds, [Cu(tpaa)](PF6)2 (1) and [Cu(tpaaH)](ClO4)3⋅H2O (2), and one trinuclear [Cu3(tpaa)2(ClO4)2](ClO4)4⋅2 H2O (3) complex were isolated and characterized by IR, UV/VIS, and EPR spectroscopy. An X-ray structure of the mononuclear protonated complex 2 shows that the Cu2+ ion has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry (τ=…
Zinc-salophen complexes as selective receptors for tertiary amines
2007
Zinc-salophen compounds 1-3 incorporating in the given order 1,2-diaminobenzene, 2,3-diaminonaphthalene, and 9,10-diaminophenantrene moieties were synthesised. Their binding properties toward a series of tertiary amines were assessed by UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy in chloroform solution. Unprecedented selectivities of quinuclidine vs. triethylamine higher than 105 were recorded, thereby revealing the dramatic influence of steric effects on axial coordination of tertiary amines. X-Ray diffraction analyses showed that in the solid state compound 2 is dimeric, but its 1 : 1 quinuclidine complex is monomeric. Strong indications were obtained that both free receptors and their amine add…
Influence of a sterically hindered amine on the photo-oxidation of low density/linear low density polyethylene blends
1990
Abstract Low density/linear low density polyethylene blends show a rate of degradation of the mechanical properties during photo-oxidation which increases with the content of the linear polymer. The use of a sterically hindered amine as UV stabilizer greatly improves the resistance of these blends to UV irradiation. The effectiveness of the stabilizer increases with the content of linear low density polyethylene.
Formation of novel T-shaped NNN ligands via rare-earth metal-mediated Si-H activation.
2014
Reactions of silylamides [Ln{N(SiHMe2)2}3(thf)2] with sterically crowded terphenylamine DmpNH2 (Dmp = 2,6-Mes2C6H3 with Mes = 2,4,6-Me3C6H2) afforded via a template reaction the formation of a new tridentate ligand, and derived complexes of composition [LnN{SiMe2N(Dmp)}2] (Ln = Ce, Pr) were obtained. Usage of the even more bulky amine Ar*NH2 (Ar* = 2,6-Trip2C6H3 with Trip = 2,4,6-iPr3C6H2) yielded the free protonated ligand NH{SiMe2NH(Ar*)}2.
PHOSPHORORGANISCHE VERBINDUNGEN 991VERSUCHE ZUR AUFKLÄRUNG DER O-SELEKTIVITÄT VON VERBINDUNGEN MIT DER P(O)F-GRUPPE
1982
Abstract The mechanism of the reaction of phosphoryl fluoride ( P(O)F) with alcohols in the presence of an amine is fundamentally different from the reaction of phosphoryl chlorides ( P(O)Cl) with primary or secondary amines. The following observations strongly support this proposal: 1. 1H-NMR-, 31P-NMR- and 19F-NMR-spectroscopic investigations show that methyl-phenyl-phosphinicacid-fluoride and n-butylamine form a thermolabile adduct, which yields the methyl-phenyl-phosphinicacid-amide only very slowly. 2. The rate of the reaction of methyl-phenyl-phosphinicacid-fluoride with ethanol is independent of the basicity of the amine but very sensitive to steric factors. Imidazole (which is only …
Substituent effects in trans-p,p'-disubstituted azobenzenes: X-ray structures at 100 K and DFT-calculated structures.
2014
The crystal and molecular structures of twopara-substituted azobenzenes with π-electron-donating –NEt2and π-electron-withdrawing –COOEt groups are reported, along with the effects of the substituents on the aromaticity of the benzene ring. The deformation of the aromatic ring around the –NEt2group inN,N,N′,N′-tetraethyl-4,4′-(diazenediyl)dianiline, C20H28N4, (I), may be caused by steric hindrance and the π-electron-donating effects of the amine group. In this structure, one of the amine N atoms demonstrates clearsp2-hybridization and the other is slightly shifted from the plane of the surrounding atoms. The molecule of the second azobenzene, diethyl 4,4′-(diazenediyl)dibenzoate, C18H18N2O4,…
A dish-stirling solar concentrator coupled to a seasonal thermal energy storage system in the southern mediterranean basin: A cogenerative layout hyp…
2020
Abstract In the future, renewable energy sources will increasingly represent an efficient energy source capable of meeting the demands of residential and industrial buildings avoiding the emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. In this paper, a heat and electric power cogeneration plant implementing a field of dish-Stirling collectors, a seasonal geothermal storage and a system of water-to-water heat pumps is proposed for the first time. The cogeneration plant has been designed both to supply thermal energy to the heating system of Building 9 of the Department of Engineering in Palermo and to produce electricity. The operation of the plant has been tested by means of hourly-based…
Sticking with your university: the importance of satisfaction, trust, image, and shared values
2016
In a context of increasing competition and financial difficulties for higher education institutions, alumni loyalty is a key factor for survival and success. This study tests a model derived from a relationship marketing perspective to investigate the roles of four variables (brand image, trust, satisfaction, and shared values) in the direct and indirect explanation of alumni loyalty. Based on a literature review, a theoretical model is proposed and tested through structural equations modeling for a sample of 1000 university alumni. The results reveal three direct antecedents of alumni loyalty (satisfaction, shared values, and trust) and one indirect antecedent (university brand image). In …
Process analysis of a biomass-based quad-generation plant for combined power, heat, cooling, and synthetic natural gas production
2015
Abstract A new concept for upgrading distributed co-generation plants to quad-generation plants, which combine the production of power, heating, cooling and synthetic natural gas (SNG), is designed and analyzed. Five cases with SNG production ranging from 0% to 100% of total energy outputs are designed to simulate different modes of operation. The quad-generation system is simulated using ASPEN PLUS and described by simulating different portions of the system. This paper also describes the new process, which is of particular interest for improving the total first law efficiency. With this system, it is possible to increase the efficiency of natural resource utilization, minimize the environ…
