The Paris Agreement binds all nations to undertake ambitious efforts to combat climate change, with the commitment to hold warming well below 2 degrees C in global mean temperature (GMT), relative to pre-industrial levels, and to pursue efforts to limit warming to 1.5 degrees C. The 1.5 degrees C limit constitutes an ambitious goal for which greater evidence on its benefits for health would help guide policy and potentially increase the motivation for action. In this paper, we extend the basic model describing the formation of urban agglomerations in a pre-industrial setting. As we will show, this setting is flexible enough to allow for the investigation of multiple aspects of the spatial economy. After summarizing the basic model and the numerical examples we will refer to, we successively examine the issues of coordination failure in the emergence of the urban phenomenon, the presence of transactions costs and the possibility of diffusion of manufactured good production through the system of agglomerations. The passengers interchange node is a complex infrastructure, where the user can choose among different modal options to do his/her trip. These transport infrastructures have various terminals (car park, bus stop, metro, light rail, railway, extra-urban and sub urban bus and so on). The passengers, inside interchange node, have to reach these terminals walking often with luggage and for long distances. We calibrated a discrete choice model taking into account attributes able to explain the passenger behaviour by observed flows and generalized least squares technique.
