Cross-Border M&A performance by Chinese firms : industry effect analysis

2017

Chinese firms participate in cross-border mergers and acquisitions (CBMA) in a constantly increasing rate. As China, the leading developing economy of the world keeps developing, the dynamics of value creation through CBMA change. This study examines the short-term performance of 41 CBMA deals by Chinese firms from 2012 to 2015. Results from the event study analysis show that, on average, Chinese companies should participate in CBMA. The first result of this study indicates that Chinese acquirer companies gain significant cumula-tive average abnormal returns (CAARs) from CBMA. The second result of this study is that Chinese acquirer companies gain bigger CAARs from CBMA when the acquiring f…

Changing the heart and soul? Inequalities in Finland’s current pursuit of a narrow education policy

2018

The Finnish educational system is well known for its excellent learning results, highly trained teachers and egalitarian values. However, when the political leanings of the government change, its policies are usually altered as well. In this policy report we give an account of the recent changes and current trends in Finnish education policy. We analyse the characteristics of the Sipilä Government’s current education policy since 2015 and compare it to the Nordic welfare-state ideals of universalism, equality and social justice which have traditionally been the key building blocks of the Finnish education system. The Government’s policy appears to be narrow-minded and ignorant of issues rel…

Définir et comprendre l’ESS sur les territoires frontaliers franco-suisses :l’observatoire ESSpace

2022

The four Franco-Swiss chambers of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) (Franche-Comté, Vaud, Rhône-Alpes and Genève) collaborated from 2012 to 2014 in an Interreg IV project, the purpose of which was to conduct "a collective reflection to support the development, enhance the value of good practices and social and solidarity initiatives from one region to another" (Project Summary Document, 2015). This reflection aims to understand together how the SSE is experienced in these territories, to explore the similarities, nuances and differences.A corpus of the various definitions of the actors themselves, and selected by these actors, was constituted and analysed according to the method of Co…

Digital innovation & enterprise in the sharing economy : an action research agenda

2020

In this digital era, Digital Innovation & Enterprise have emerged as a possible prescription in the sharing economy. Scholars have noted that digital innovation is transforming the technological landscape, entrepreneurial practices, and the behaviours, attitudes, and beliefs of consumers across the globe. This research note serves three purposes. First, it introduces digital innovation and enterprise as a fruitful area of research in the sharing economy. Second, it extends the agenda set by Yoo, Henfridsson, and Lyytinen (2010) on “new organising logics of Digital Innovation” to propose contemporary research questions for scholarly collaboration. Third, it attempts to move forward research …

Soluble/MOF-Supported Palladium Single Atoms Catalyze the Ligand-, Additive-, and Solvent-Free Aerobic Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohols to Benzoic Acids.

2021

Metal single-atom catalysts (SACs) promise great rewards in terms of metal atom efficiency. However, the requirement of particular conditions and supports for their synthesis, together with the need of solvents and additives for catalytic implementation, often precludes their use under industrially viable conditions. Here, we show that palladium single atoms are spontaneously formed after dissolving tiny amounts of palladium salts in neat benzyl alcohols, to catalyze their direct aerobic oxidation to benzoic acids without ligands, additives, or solvents. With this result in hand, the gram-scale preparation and stabilization of Pd SACs within the functional channels of a novel methyl-cystein…

Institutional logics and social enterprises: Entry mode choices of foreign hospitals in China

2020

When social enterprises, being defined by their social mission and profitability, internationalize, they need to\ud respond to institutional logics in the host country. By juxtaposing institutional logic and entry mode choice\ud literature, this paper shows how social enterprises accommodate different institutional logics when they enter\ud foreign markets. The aim of this article is to show, through an original argumentation, based on the analysis…

MODELING MANAGERIAL ACTIVITY, A CHALLENGE OR A NEED INTO THE INTERCONECTED ECONOMIC SPACE

2009

In the European economic area, which becomes more and more interconnected, the management system provides ways of obtaining a performance which, on changing the size of the firm, sometimes prove to be inadequate. During that lapse of time from triggering the action when the results can be measured should be as small continuously decreasing. The information required to be used in the decision support are required more avid. The manager will use different models for measurements of indicators of discrete evaluation, but it proves that not to be the best solution. Only the availability of this information will enable them to make better decisions, and by changing the way of how the decision ma…
