Empowering citizens for well-being and chronic disease management with wellness diary.

2010

Chronic conditions closely related to lifestyles are the major cause of disability and death in the developed world. Behavior change is the key to managing well-being and preventing and managing chronic diseases. Wellness diary (WD) is a mobile application designed to support citizens in learning about their behavior, and both making and maintaining behavior changes. WD has been found acceptable, useful, and suitable for long-term use as a part of an intervention. When used independently, however, it does not seem to have enough engaging and motivating features to support adoption and long-term commitment. The main improvement needs identified based on a review of WD-related studies were: p…

Les rapports aux savoirs du sachant : Le savoir mis en circulation par l’enseignant-tuteur EPS dans l’entretien-conseil : une étude de cas en didacti…

2021

Our work consists in making an inventory of the transmissions that take place between the P.E. tutor and his trainee during the counselling interview. This official process concludes the day of the trainee's visit to the situation and brings professional knowledge into play. In the intervention professions, each actor acts in a singular way with the public he is responsible for. This activity is nourished by the references that have structured his conceptions and the events that have built his professional experience. However, when the tutor suddenly changes his intentions, other singularities must be taken into account. The way in which he positions himself in relation to what is expected …

Teaching swimming at primary school level : a significant difficulty for the subject

2020

This thesis seeks to identify and understand, from the epistemological and methodological field of psychoanalysis, the nature of the difficulty in teaching swimming encountered by four P.E. primary school teachers. It is based on a trainer’s observation witnessing the embarrassment of P.E. teachers confronted with this discipline and with a lack of ‘solutions’ to deal successfully with this professional difficulty. The clinical methodological device consists in the construction of four cases based on the interpretative analysis of the subject’s speech, collected through individual clinical interviews. This collection is completed by a clinical observation time during teaching sessions for t…

The Western Alps from the Jurassic to Oligocene: spatio-temporal constraints and evolutionary reconstructions

2005

Abstract Despite extensive research in the last 150 years, the regional tectonic reconstruction of the Western Alps has remained controversial. The curved orogenic belt consists of several ribbon-like continental terranes (Sesia/Austroalpine, Internal Crystalline Massifs, Brianconnais), which are separated by two or more ophiolitic sutures (Piemonte, Valais, Antrona?, Lanzo/Canavese?). High-pressure (HP) metamorphism of each terrane occurred during distinct orogenic episodes: at ∼65 Ma in the Sesia/Austroalpine, at ∼45 Ma in the Piemonte zone and at ∼35 Ma in the Internal Crystalline Massifs. It is suggested that these events reflect individual accretionary episodes, which together with kin…

Subjective states associated with retrieval failures in Parkinson's disease.

2013

Abstract Instances in which we cannot retrieve information immediately but know that the information might be retrieved later are subjective states that accompany retrieval failure. These are expressed in feeling-of-knowing (FOK) and Tip-of-the-tongue (TOT) experiences. In Experiment 1, participants with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and older adult controls were given general questions and asked to report when they experienced a TOT state and to give related information about the missing word. The PD group experienced similar levels of TOTs but provided less correct peripheral information related to the target when in a TOT state. In Experiment 2, participants were given a Semantic (general kno…

Study of the attitudes and future intentions of nursing students towards working with older people: an observational study

2021

Background: Older people are increasing in the world leading to the fact that many nursing students will work in geriatric care setting. It was also reported the lack of knowledge and interest in working with older people by many nursing students. Therefore, the aim of the study is to explore the attitudes, wills, and intentions for the care of older people from nursing students. Methods: A sample of 383 students (mean age between 17 and 24; females: 76.2%) was divided according to the year. A questionnaire and three scales investigating the attitude for working with older persons (Kogan, Aday-Campbell, Nolan scales) were administered. Simple correlations across the three scales and the com…

Hedgehog signaling and primary cilia are required for the formation of adult neural stem cells.

2008

Neural stem cells that continue to produce neurons are retained in the adult hippocampal dentate gyrus. The mechanisms by which embryonic neural progenitors expand and transform into postnatal neural stem cells, an essential process for the continual production of neurons throughout life, remain unknown. We found that radial astrocytes, the postnatal progenitors in the dentate gyrus, failed to develop after embryonic ablation of ciliary genes or Smoothened (Smo), an essential component for Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling. Postnatal dentate neurogenesis failed in these mutant mice, and the dentate gyrus became severely hypotrophic. In contrast, expression of a constitutively active Smo (SmoM2…
