What Factors have an Influence on A Quality Teaching Practice in Sciences?

Abstract This paper aims to know to what extent in-service teachers who have not participated in science teaching training courses neither have performed any research in this field develop a quality teaching practice and what factors have influenced to achieve it. Questionnaires and non-participating observation protocols about the classroom work have been used as well as semi-structured interviews with a sample of teachers to obtain data. These instruments try to characterize the teaching action and determine what factors and in which degrees have influenced the performance of a quality science teaching activity.

El propósito de este trabajo es analizar las contribuciones de la ciencia a la cultura ciudadana, con objeto de fundamentar las propuestas de alfabetización científica como una componente esencial de la educación, susceptible de favorecer la participación ciudadana en la toma de decisiones acerca de los problemas relacionados con el desarrollo tecnocientífico, contribuir a la formación de un espíritu crítico y transmitir la emoción de los apasionantes desafíos a los que se ha enfrentado la comunidad científica. In the past few years, Spain has gone through an economic recession that has impeded the development of professional opportunities for young graduates. Consequently, there is an increasing migration of young graduates across borders to work abroad. The aim of this qualitative research carried out through a case study, is to examine the experiences of Spanish graduates in developing a professional career abroad, specifically in Germany.
