Challenging serve myths in doubles tennis

Doubles tennis has received little interest from quantitative research to date. Coach-led anecdotes therefore abound. The aims of this study were therefore to evaluate the veracity of the following common anecdotes: (a) serving teams have an advantage regardless of the length of the point; (b) serving teams have a greater advantage with new balls; (c) regular teams perform better when serving than new teams and (d) serving teams decrease their performance during break points. Data from doubles hard-court and clay-court tennis were collated for 52 doubles teams during 2018 ATP tournaments. Nursing Students Managing Deteriorating Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Abstract Background The objective was to summarize knowledge and systematically collect and quantify meta-analytical results regarding the effects of high-fidelity simulation in nursing education to improve students' ability to recognize and respond to deteriorating patients. Methods In total, 4048 citations were screened, 40 articles were selected for full-text screening, and 14 articles were included. Six articles were subsequently included in the meta-analysis. Results Knowledge and performance increased after simulation. Four studies reported an increase in self-confidence. Practical proposal for the development of the rhythm with tennis players in training

The importance of training coordination for the development of young players is a well-established area of research. However, rhythm, despite having a crucial importance in tennis, is one of the coordinative capacities less studied and therefore, it is difficult for coaches to obtain information that could allow them to design coaching sessions that focus on these capacities. This article highlights the importance of rhythm in tennis, and also presents series of general exercises (without the use of a specific tennis equipment), special exercises (with the use of specific tennis equipment) and specific exercises (in game situations) aimed at the training of these coordinative capacities.
