¿What Can We Learn from Educational Systems of Chile, Spain and Finland in the Framework of Salamanca Statement?

2019

Evaluation and Accreditation System of External Internship Tutors - SEATPE

2020

Time allocation during Higher education : a study of Brazilian, French and Spanish students

1995

International audience; The results we present enable us to highlight common features and disparities in the way students from the three countries organize their time. While the lecture attendance time varies little from one country to another, it is different for other elements of time use. The Spaniards in particular seem to spend more time on personal work and the Brazilians more often have paid employment. The initial comparison should however be regarded as provisional in that no systematic correlation was made with educational policies in each country. Certainly, the lack of grants system in Brazil is linked to the significant amount of available time spent on salaried work but it wou…

English and French Modes of Regulation of the Education System : a comparison

2003

03069; International audience; This paper describes English and French modes of regulation of the educational system, stressing the contrast between them (regulation by process versus regulation by outcomes), while their goals and organisation prove rather more convergent over the last 30 years. It tries to assess the correspondence between those two ways of operating and what we know about the functioning of organisations like schools. From that point of view, the French system fits the economic theory of organisation less well than the English one, so that some contradictions and tensions are predictable. Last, it looks for some relationhip with indicators of effectiveness, equity and soc…

Bildungsexpansion, soziale Klasse und die Wahl von Latein als Strategie der Distinktion

2021

In times of educational expansion, privileged families are looking for new strategies of distinction. Referring to Pierre Bourdieus theory of distinction, we argue that choosing Latin at school a language that is no longer spoken and therefore has no direct value is one of the strategies of privileged families to set themselves apart from less privileged families. Based on two surveys we conducted at German schools, the paper analyzes the relationship between parents educational background and the probability that their child will learn Latin. Results indicate that historically academic families have the strongest tendency towards learning Latin, followed by new academic famil…

Technologies for attention to diversity: a bibliometric study

2019

[EN] In these last decades, digital systems and playful dynamics have penetrated the inclusive education field, in some cases to attend the diversity of the classroom as a whole and, in others, to study in a specific way the use of technologies in students with special needs. About this topic, on the following pages we study the trends of the research carried out through a bibliometric analysis of the scientific production in the Scopus database, which includes an amount of 59 articles, published between 1999 and 2019, are included. The results indicate an increase in the last years of the presence of scientific publications in journals in the field of Social Sciences. Furthermore, data sho…

Implementation of Computer Assisted Experimental Work in Analytical Chemistry Laboratory Teaching

2019

[EN] Computer-Assisted Experimental Work (CAEW) consists in the incorporation of computer-connected apparatus in the laboratory. This is a new insight into teaching of Classical Analytical Chemistry, wherein the experiments are usually manually conducted. However, it does not represent a complete break with traditional methodology, as the design and goal of the experiment are essentially the same. In this work, we present the implementation of CAEW to a practical included in the Laboratory part of “Analytical Chemistry IV”, taught at the fourth academic year of the Degree in Chemistry: “Potentiometric titration of a mixture of iodure and chlorure with silver”. Three couples of students used…

Integrating xAPI in AR applications for Positive Behaviour Intervention and Support

2021

The spread of new technologies like Augmented Reality and recent technological developments, provide innovative techniques and tools that show increasing potential in education. In this paper we will showcase the work implemented within the Horizon 2020 European project ARETE (Augmented Reality Interactive Educational System). One of the pilots of this project aims to investigate for the first time the introduction of AR to support a behavioral lesson in schools where Positive Behaviour Intervention and Support (PBIS) methodology is adopted. In particular, we present the study conducted to track user interactions with augmented reality objects through the use of the Experience API standard.

eCity: Virtual City Environment for Engineering Problem Based Learning

2015

The main objective of the eCITY project is to design, develop and validate a pedagogical methodology, supported by an online, collaborative, city-development simulation engine (Simcity like) that stimulates the integration and continuous exploitation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in engineering and science schools but, at the same time, fostering the interest for these orientations in secondary school students. From scribe to YouTuber: A proposal to teach the History of the English Language in the digital era

2019

The present paper deals with a proposal for enhancing students’ engagement in the course ‘History of the English Language’ of the Degree in English Studies (Universitat de València). For the purpose, the traditional lectures will be combined with a research project carried out by groups of students (research teams) in which two digital tools will be used: electronic linguistic corpora and YouTube. Electronic linguistic corpora, on the one hand, will allow students to discover the diachronic development of certain linguistic features by looking at real data and making conclusions based on frequencies by themselves. YouTube, on the other, is a most appropriate online environment where student…
