AbstractWhile the role of forestry in mitigating climate change is increasingly subject to political commitment, other areas, such as water protection, may be at risk. In this study, we ask whether surface waters are sufficiently safeguarded in relation to the 2015 launch of a series of measures to intensify forest management for mitigation of climate change in Norway. First, we assess how impacts on water are accounted for in existing regulations for sustainable forestry. Water is scarce in many countries. One instrument to improve the allocation of a scarce resource is (efficient) pricing or taxation. However, water is implicitly traded on international markets, particularly through food and textiles, so that impacts of water taxes cannot be studied in isolation, but require an analysis of international trade implications. We include water as a production factor in a multi-region, multi-sector computable general equilibrium model (GTAP), to assess a series of water tax policies. In this paper, we deal with the existence of weak solutions for a perturbed p-Laplacian boundary value problem with impulsive effects. More precisely, the existence of an exactly determined open interval of positive parameters for which the problem admits infinitely many weak solutions is established. Our proofs are based on variational methods.

Abstract Adopting a state-of-the-art numerical model system, we investigate how the diurnal variations in precipitation and local breeze systems are characterized by lower-boundary conditions related to the Drakensberg highland and warm SST associated with the Agulhas Current. A control simulation can simulate the hydrometeorological climates in the region realistically, but the terrestrial rainfall is overestimated. Two series of copper(I) complexes with diethoxyphosphoryl-substituted 1,10-phenanthroline ligands were synthesized and characterized in the solid state and in solution. The first comprised mixed-ligand CuI complexes with phenanthroline and triphenylphosphine. The second series includes bis-chelates with two phenanthroline ligands. According to the X-ray data for the six complexes, the ditopic phenanthroline ligands exhibit bidentate coordination to the copper(I) atom through two nitrogen atoms in both series.
