Ongelmallisten kokemusten assimilaatioprosessien vaikutus toisiinsa ja terapeutin käyttämät keinot suhteessa niihin

2013

Tutkimuksessamme tarkastelimme asiakasosallistujamme kahden ongelmallisen kokemuksen assimilaation etenemistä sekä näiden toisistaan erillisinä pysyneiden prosessien vaikutusta toisiinsa. Asiakkaan ongelmallisia kokemuksia kutsuimme vanhempiteemaksi ja parisuhdeteemaksi. Lisäksi tarkastelimme, millaisia keinoja terapeutti käytti puhutellessaan asiakkaan ääniä. Tutkimme myös, eroavatko terapeutin käyttämät keinot eri ongelmallisissa kokemuksissa. Tutkimuksemme teoreettisena viitekehyksenä käytimme W. B. Stilesin assimilaatiomallia (Honos-Webb & Stiles, 1998; Stiles, 2011). Assimilaatiomalli on teoria psykologisesta muutoksesta, jossa minuuden ajatellaan rakentuvan aktiivisten äänten yhteisös…

Maatilayritysbarometri : tutkimusraportti

2012

Maatilayritysbarometrin 2012 tarkoituksena on herättää keskustelua maaseudusta maatilayritysten toimintaympäristönä ja maatilayritysten tulevaisuuden odotuksista. Barometrin tavoitteena on tuottaa virikkeitä maaseutustrategiseen keskusteluun ja tietoa maaseudun kehittämis- ja ohjelmatyölle. Barometrin teemat voidaan pukea kysymysten muotoon: Millainen on keskisuomalaisten maatilayrittäjien suhde maaseutuun? Miten maatilayrittäjät näkevät Keski-Suomen maaseudun vuonna 2016? Miten maatilayrittäjät arvioivat maatilayrityksen liiketoimintaympäristön tulevaisuuden kehitystä ja tulevaisuuden kehitysnäkymiä? Entä miten he arvioivat toimintaedellytysten parantamista ja liiketoiminnan edellytyksiä K…

Social impacts of biodiversity offsetting: A review

2022

Biodiversity offsetting is the widely studied last step of the mitigation hierarchy. Despite numerous studies and the methodological development completed for biodiversity calculations, the human aspect remains unsolved. Biodiversity conservation is typically governed at national or state levels, but the harm caused to biodiversity as well as people occurs locally. In biodiversity offsetting, biodiversity values can be relocated far from the original area, but relocating the values people hold regarding their nearby nature may not be possible. Acknowledging the local people's hopes and values may further complicate biodiversity offsetting, therefore it emphasises even more the need to avoid…

Connection between Absorption Properties and Conformational Changes in Deinococcus radiodurans Phytochrome

2014

Phytochromes consist of several protein domains and a linear tetrapyrrole molecule, which interact as a red-light-sensing system. In this study, size-exclusion chromatography and light-scattering techniques are combined with UV-vis spectroscopy to investigate light-induced changes in dimeric Deinococcus radiodurans bacterial phytochrome (DrBphP) and its subdomains. The photosensory unit (DrCBD-PHY) shows an unusually stable Pfr state with minimal dark reversion, whereas the histidine kinase (HK) domain facilitates dark reversion to the resting state. Size-exclusion chromatography reveals that all phytochrome fragments remain as dimers in the illuminated state and dark state. Still, the elut…

ERA-experiment “space biochemistry”

1995

Abstract The general goal of the experiment was to study the response of anhydrobiotic (metabolically dormant) microorganisms (spores of Bacillus subtilis, cells of Deinococcus radiodurans, conidia of Aspergillus species) and cellular constituents (plasmid DNA, proteins, purple membranes, amino acids, urea) to the extremely dehydrating conditions of open space, in some cases in combination with irradiation by solar UV-light. Methods of investigation included viability tests, analysis of DNA damages (strand breaks, DNA-protein cross-links) and analysis of chemical effects by spectroscopic, electrophoretic and chromatographic methods. The decrease in viability of the microorganisms was as exp…

Removal of Chromophore-proximal Polar Atoms Decreases Water Content and Increases Fluorescence in a Near Infrared Phytofluor

2015

Genetically encoded fluorescent markers have revolutionized cell and molecular biology due to their biological compatibility, controllable spatiotemporal expression, and photostability. To achieve in vivo imaging in whole animals, longer excitation wavelength probes are needed due to the superior ability of near infrared light to penetrate tissues unimpeded by absorbance from biomolecules or autofluorescence of water. Derived from near infrared-absorbing bacteriophytochromes, phytofluors are engineered to fluoresce in this region of the electromagnetic spectrum, although high quantum yield remains an elusive goal. An invariant aspartate residue is of utmost importance for photoconversion in…

R&D subsidies and productivity in SMEs

2015

This paper examines the effect of R&D subsidies on labour productivity. We use firm-level data on Finnish SMEs from 2000 to 2012 and apply a combined matching and difference-in-differences method to control for selection bias. We find no significant positive effect on labour productivity over the five-year period after a subsidy is granted. However, the results vary over time and indicate a 2–4 % negative effect on SMEs’ annual productivity growth one to 2 years after the subsidy year. Nevertheless, subsidies generate a positive employment effect and enhance firm survival. Additional scrutiny reveals that subsidies positively affect the human capital level of low-skill firms. peerReviewed
