Novel electrolytes for electrochemical double layer capacitors based on 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropan-2-ol

2012

Abstract 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoropropan-2-ol (HFIP) was tested for its applicability as solvent in electrolytes for energy storage devices. A comprehensive characterization with respect to solubility, conductivity, as well as chemical and electrochemical stability was carried out with different conducting salts. Furthermore, different HFIP solutions containing standard supporting electrolytes and alkali metal fluorides, respectively, were applied in electrochemical double layer capacitor cells. Their behavior was studied with impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry at low scan rates and compared to the current benchmark electrolytes based on propylene carbonate (PC) and acetonitrile (AN…

Electrochemical determination of the stability of complexes formed by proton-ionizable ligands of 3,5-disubstituted 1H-pyrazole with phenethylamine

1999

The application of two extreme models for diffusion in two-component systems to electrochemically determine equilibrium constants is discussed. The application of cyclic voltammetric, diferential pulse and rotating-disc electrode voltammetric data to elucidate the stoichiometry and formation constant of complex species by applying a generalization of the molar-ratio method is described. Molar-ratio experiments permit the distinction between the limiting diffusive regimes. The values of the equilibrium stability constants for complexation of phenethylamine and phenethylammonium ions by a 26-membered dioxotetraester crown of 3,5-disubstituted 1H-pyrazole as free ligand 1[L] and as dipyrazolat…

The electrochemistry of carbon monoxide reductive cyclotetramerization to squarate anion

1978

Abstract The electrochemical reduction, of carbon monoxide to C4O2−4 squarate anion is investigated. Particular attention is devoted to the influence that solvents, electrolytes, electrodes and carbon monoxide pressure have on the yields. The main feature appears to be that strictly controlled conditions are not necessary for cyclotetramerization. In dmf — Bu4NBr the following yields vs reacted CO and circulated charge were obtained with different cathodes: Pt(49%, 34%); Au(48%, 29%); Al(47%, 38%); stainless steel (36%, 33%); graphite (39%, 31%). A distinct influence of the supporting electrolyte (inorganic and tetraalkylammonium halides) was however observed.

Synthesis, crystallographic and electrochemical study of ethynyl[2.2]paracyclophane derived cobalt metallatetrahedranes

2012

Abstract A series of alkynyl cobalt complexes [Co2(μ-η2-HCC–PCP)(CO)6−nLn] [n = 0 (2); n = 2, L2 = dppa (3), dppm (4), dcpm (6), 2 P(OPh)3 (7)] and [Co2(CO)4L2]2(μ-η2:μ-η2-HCC–PCP–CCH)] (L2 = dppm (8), dcpm (9); (PCP = [2.2]paracyclophane) has been prepared and characterized. The molecular structures of 3 and 4, as well as that of [Co2(CO)4(μ-CO)2(μ2-dcpm)] (5), have been determined by X-ray diffraction. Electrochemical studies (Cyclic Voltammetry, Rotating Disk Electrode) and luminescence spectroscopy have been used to evaluate the extent of the electronic communication through the PCP motif using the “Co2C2” centres as a probe. No electronic coupling between the Co2(CO)n centres via the b…

Electrocatalytic properties of manganese and cobalt polyporphine films toward oxygen reduction reaction

2018

International audience; Novel member of polymetalloporphines, namely manganese polymetalloporphine of type I (pMnP-I) obtained by ion exchange from magnesium polyporphine of type I (pMgP-I) is reported for the first time and compared to its cobalt analogue (pCoP-I). Both polymer films have been obtained via two-step procedure: demetaladon of the pMgP-I electrode film via its exposure to trifluoroacetic acid solution, resulting in formation of the metal-free polyporphine of type I (pH(2)P-I) followed by electrochemically induced incorporation of Co or Mn ions from the acetonitrile solution of cobalt and manganese perchlorates. A further oxidative transformation of pCoP-I, polymer films has l…

Polytetrafluoroethylene Films in Rigid Polyurethane Foams' Dielectric Permittivity Measurements with a One-Side Access Capacitive Sensor.

2021

As a non-metallic composite material, widely applied in industry, rigid polyurethane (PUR) foams require knowledge of their dielectric properties. In experimental determination of PUR foams’ dielectric properties protection of one-side capacitive sensor’s active area from adverse effects caused by the PUR foams’ test objects has to be ensured. In the given study, the impact of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) films, thickness 0.20 mm and 0.04 mm, in covering or simulated coating the active area of one-side access capacitive sensor’ electrodes on the experimentally determined true dielectric permittivity spectra of rigid PUR foams is estimated. Penetration depth of the low frequency excitation…

DNA-based applications in molecular electronics

2011

This thesis is mainly focused on DNA molecules and especially on self-assembled DNA constructs and their potential applications in nanotechnology and molecular electronics. In the field of molecular electronics the conductivity of DNA is a crucial - yet open - question, and it is of great concern, since DNA is a very promising molecule in a context of bottom-up based nanodevices due to its superior selfassembly characteristics. A key tool in all the experiments presented in this thesis is a dielectrophoretic trapping technique, which was exploited in spatial manipulation of individualDNA molecules, DNA constructs and also semiconducting quantum dots. In the case of DNA, the technique provid…

Quantitation of Metal Ions in Archaeological Glass by Abrasive Stripping Square-Wave Voltammetry Using Graphite/Polyester Composite Electrodes

2003

A method for identifying Co, Cu, Sb, Sn, Fe, Zn, and Zr pigments in glasses using square-wave voltammetry as the detection mode is described. It is based on the abrasive attachment of glass microsamples to graphite/polyester composite electrodes. Sample amounts less than 1 μg are used allowing for the study of archaeological samples. In all cases well-defined anodic stripping peaks corresponding to the oxidation of metal deposits generated at potentials ranging from −0.6 to −1.6 V (vs. SCE) are obtained. This response is in agreement with that displayed by the corresponding metal oxides. Quantitative estimates of the relative population of metal ions in glasses are obtained from peak area m…
