Alvas oksīda (SnO2) elektroķīmiskā gāzu sensora aprobācija smaku monitoringam ārtelpu gaisa vidē
2017
Maģistra darbā pētītas un analizētas smaku piesārņojuma koncentrācijas noteikšanas iespējas, izmantojot alvas oksīda elektroķīmiskos gāzu sensorus Figaro TGS: 2600; 2602; 2603; 2620. Darba izstrādes gaitā izstrādāts sensora kalibrācijas algoritms toluolam, benzolam un etanolam un novērtēta 4 dažādu sensoru spēja reaģēt dažādos piesārņotības līmeņa lauka apstākļos (mēslota un pūstošu kāpostu lauka, bijušās lopkautuves – esošā cūkkopības uzņēmuma tuvumā, Rīgas Brīvostas uzņēmumu apkārtnē un piena pārstrādes uzņēmuma notekūdeņu attīrīšanas iekārtu tuvumā). Darbā ir apzināts iepriekšminēto gāzu sensoru potenciāls un izvērtētas iespējas veikt vielu kvantitatīvu analīzi.

Participation in Social Media: Studying Explicit and Implicit Forms of Participation in Communicative Social Networks
2016
The diverse forms of participation in social media raise many methodological and ethical issues that should be acknowledged in research. In this paper, participation in social media is studied by utilising the framework of explicit and implicit participation. The focus is on the communicative and communal aspects of social media. The aim of the paper is to promote the reconsideration of what constitutes participation when online users create connections rather than content. The underlying argument is that research on social media and the development of methods should concentrate more on implicit forms of participation.
Measuring optical anisotropy in poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) films with added graphene
2015
Abstract Graphene is a 2D nanomaterial having a great potential for applications in electronics and optoelectronics. Composites of graphene with conducting polymers have shown high performance in practical devices and their solution-processability enables low-cost and high-throughput mass manufacturing using printing techniques. Here we measure the effect of incorporation of graphene into poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) to the optical anisotropy, absorbance and conductivity of the film. Uniaxial anisotropy in PEDOT:PSS films has been thought to be caused by the spin-coating process used in fabrication. We have characterized spray- and spin-coated films …
Optical properties of conductive carbon-based nanomaterials
2016
The interaction of light with carbon nanomaterials is the main focus of this thesis. I explore several nanostructured systems involving different allotropes of carbon, and characterize them both electrically, if applicable, and optically. Special attention is paid to search for plasmon-like excitations on the systems, or utilizing surface plasmons on characterization. The first objective is to achieve control of carbon nanotube (CNT) conductivity with surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs), which resulted in the first CNT field-effect transistor (FET) that can be gated definitively with SPPs. The second objective is the investigation of optical properties of various thin carbon-based molecular n…
Electronic and vibrational spectroscopic studies of gold-nanoclusters
2016
Gold nanoclusters are a peculiar new material with properties between that of bulk metal and single atoms. They show size-dependent evolution of optical and electronic properties sensitive to the change of single atom or single electron in the system. Understanding the relationship between structure and properties is important to both fundamental scientific question of the role of the quantum size effects in small metal-clusters, and to application of nanoclusters in e.g. photonics, nanoelectronics, and heterogeneous catalysis. In this thesis four spectroscopic studies of monolayer-protected gold-nanoclusters are presented. The optical gap of the Au144(PET)60 and (Au/Ag)144(PET)60 (PET: pheny…

gA-driven shapes of electron spectra of forbidden β decays in the nuclear shell model
2017
The evolution of the shape of the electron spectra of 16 forbidden β− decays as a function of gA was studied using the nuclear shell model in appropriate single-particle model spaces with established, well-tested nuclear Hamiltonians. The β spectra of 94Nb(6+)→94Mo(4+) and 98Tc(6+)→98Ru(4+) were found to depend strongly on gA, which makes them excellent candidates for the determination of the effective value of gA with the spectrum-shape method (SSM). A strong gA dependence is also seen in the spectrum of 96Zr(0+)→96Nb(6+). This decay could be used for determining the quenching of gA in sixth-forbidden decays in the future, when the measurement of the spectrum becomes experimentally feasibl…

Betydningen av Rollebegrepet i utviklingen av virksomhetsovergripende EPJ standarder
2016
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk- Universitetet i Agder, 2016 The current offer of health care services shows that patients receive services from multiple health care providers within diagnostic procedures, treatment and follow-up care. Consequently, this entails that health care personnel across the board require access to updated information on the patient in order to provide health care. Today each health care establishment keep separate electronic health records (EHR) to which only their own employees have access. In addition, most establishments have individually adapted their records in relation to structure, access control and roles. Moving forward the goal is to provide a…
