Come e quando le norme internazionali operano negli ordinamenti statali
2023
In this chapter the main issues concerning legal effects of international legal rules in domestic orders are examined in a systematic way. This investigation is underpinned by the following five pillars. First, the idea that States are not bound by international obligations in this respect. Second, that despite the persistent (albeit limited) importance of formal models of incorporation of international law into domestic law, a central role is played by domestic courts, with particular regard to the identification of self-"executing" rules. Third, that international legal rules may sometimes produce legal effects in domestic orders, even in the absence of a formal incorporation into domesti…
The Most Invisible Maternal Experience? Analysing How Maternal Regret Is Discussed in Finland
2021
AbstractIn Finland, becoming a mother is often constructed as an individual choice that ultimately leads to personal fulfilment and happiness, despite the occasional ‘negative’ feelings associated with motherhood such as exhaustion, frustration and tiredness. In this cultural atmosphere, maternal regret continues to be a subject that is hidden, forbidden and rarely scrutinised. It is perhaps surprising that in one of the world’s most gender egalitarian countries, which is also perceived to be one of the best countries in which to be a mother, women still testify that motherhood is limited to survival. We argue that, somewhat paradoxically, discussing the negative emotions of motherhood migh…
Predicting moral attitudes and antisocial behavior in young team sport athletes. A self-determination theory perspective
2019
Identifying the factors associated with prosocial and antisocial behaviors in youth sport may provide evidence to inform interventions aimed at promoting prosocial behaviors and minimizing rule transgressions in young athletes. We investigated relations among social‐contextual factors (e.g., social support), personal motivational factors (e.g., psychological need satisfaction and motivation), young athletes’ attitudes toward prosocial (e.g., keeping winning in proportion) and antisocial (e.g., acceptance of cheating and gamesmanship) behaviors, and their actual rule violations during matches in two samples of athletes. Participants in Sample 1 were young team sport athletes (N = 355) and pa…
Social welfare professionals willing to participate in client information system development - Results from a large cross-sectional survey.
2021
Human-centered design methods should be implemented throughout the client information system (CIS) development process to understand social welfare professionals’ needs, tasks, and contexts of use. The aim of this study was to examine Finnish social welfare professionals’ experiences of participating in CIS development. A national cross-sectional web-based survey on the CIS experiences of social welfare professionals (1145 respondents) was conducted in Finland in spring 2019. This study focused on statements concerning the experiences of end users with CIS development and participation. The results are reported by professional and age groups. Half (50%) of the 1145 respondents had participa…
Thinking the Political with Jean-Luc Nancy
2021
In this article, I argue that at the center of Jean-Luc Nancy’s approach to the political lies the thinking of subject as that of relation. Throughout the historical actualizations of, for example, the individual, the state, or the people as a subject, the problematic of relation is one that has retreated and now demands to be subjected to a retreatment. When the arche-teleological presuppositions that constitute subject as that which is given enter the phase of deconstruction, subject comes to present itself as nothing but the activity of relating itself to itself. I respond to Nancy’s call to invent “an affirmation of relation” by way of rethinking the logics of sovereignty and democracy.…
Changes in farmers’ participation in rural Organizations of Opolszczyzna Region
2016
Subject expertise among teacher students of English and Swedish : the ideal language teacher and self-efficacy beliefs
2015
Käsitykset kielen oppimisesta ja opettamisesta ovat muuttuneet kielen rakenteita korostavista näkemyksistä yhä enemmän kommunikatiivisiksi (Abrahamsson 2009). Tämän tutkielman lähtökohtana onkin havainnoida näiden muuttuvien kielikäsitysten heijastumista kielenopettajaopiskelijoiden näkemyksissä selvittämällä, mitä kielitaidon osa-alueita he pitävät kaikista tärkeimpinä. Tutkielma keskittyy toisaalta oppiainekohtaiseen aineenhallintaan, minkä tarkoitus on kartoittaa opiskelijoiden valmiuksia kohdata tulevan työelämän haasteet. Jotta opiskelijoiden sopeutuminen työelämään tapahtuisi mahdollisimman sujuvasti, tulee heidän luonnollisesti hallita opettamansa kieli mahdollisimman hyvin. Kiviniem…
The Developmental Dynamics between Interest, Self-concept of Ability, and Academic Performance
2014
Abstract. Only a few studies have examined the direction of associations between academic achievement, interest, and sel f-concept of ability simultaneously by using longitudinal data over several school years. To exam ine the cross-lagged relationships between students’ interest, self-concept of ability, and performance in mathematics and reading, longitudinal data from Grade 1 to Grade 7 of comprehensive school was gathered from 216 students. The results showed that, in both reading and math, performance predicted students’ subsequent self-concept of ability. Some evidence was also found that math performance predicts subsequent interest in mathematics, and that self- concept of math abil…
Kiitollisuuden harjoittaminen itsehoitomenetelmänä : 28 runoa kiitollisuuden voimasta
2015
Lenita Lehtonen (2015). Kiitollisuuden harjoittaminen itsehoitomenetelmänä. 28 runoa kiitollisuuden voimasta. Terveystieteiden laitos, Jyväskylän yliopisto, terveyskasvatuksen pro gradu -tutkielma, 80 s., 2 liitettä. Kiitollisuusharjoitusten on havaittu useissa kokeellisissa tutkimuksissa vaikuttavan myönteisesti hyvinvointiin.
Freeze-out radii extracted from three-pion cumulants in pp, p–Pb and Pb–Pb collisions at the LHC
2014
In high-energy collisions, the spatio-temporal size of the particle production region can be measured using the Bose-Einstein correlations of identical bosons at low relative momentum. The source radii are typically extracted using two-pion correlations, and characterize the system at the last stage of interaction, called kinetic freeze-out. In low-multiplicity collisions, unlike in high-multiplicity collisions, two-pion correlations are substantially altered by background correlations, e.g. mini-jets. Such correlations can be suppressed using three-pion cumulant correlations. We present the first measurements of the size of the system at freeze-out extracted from three-pion cumulant correl…
