A major 43kDa protein from the protective tube of Riftiapachyptila (Vestimentifera), named RP43, was partly microsequenced after isolation by SDS/PAGE from the protein fraction of tubes collected around the hydrothermal vents at the East Pacific Rise. On the basis of the partial peptide sequences obtained, experiments using reverse-transcriptase-mediated PCR and rapid amplification of cDNA ends led to the complete cDNA sequence. Parasite aggregation at the infracommunity level may nevertheless be important for intraspecific interactions such as parasite mating success and opportunities for cross-fertilization. This chapter addresses software professionals’ agency and learning in work characterized by a need for innovative learning and fluency in renewing work practices. The study presented was conducted with software professionals in a medium-sized Finnish company producing digital business applications. We applied a mixed-method approach to data collection and analysis. Regarding professional agency, we found a range of opportunities to influence work-related matters. The professionals were primarily able to influence their working hours and the order of their work tasks, but had fewer opportunities to influence customer projects, or their salary. Intestinal helminth communities of the long-finned pilot whale (Globicephala melas) off the Faroe Islands.

SUMMARYThe intestines of 170 long-finned pilot whales, Globicephala melas, caught off the Faroe Islands (N.E. Atlantic) were examined for helminth parasites. Eight species were detected but only 4 occurred in at least 10% of the sample. No core or recurrent group of species were identified and no correlations between abundances of species were significant. Diversity values were far below those reported for other endotherms. Colonization by helminths was random, whales not being readily colonized. La presente Tesis Doctoral tiene por objetivo conocer el estado del parasitismo intestinal y su correlación con diferentes factores intrínsecos y extrínsecos en la población infantil ruandesa. Para ello, se ha estudiado un total de 674 escolares (330 niños y 344 niñas) del Colegio Nemba I (Nemba, Gakenke, Província Norte de Ruanda), con edades comprendidas entre los 6 y 18 años de edad. Se ha detectado un espectro parasitario de 17 especies (10 de protozoos y 7 de helmintos), con una prevalencia total de parasitación del 94,9% (94,5% para protozoos y 18,1% para helmintos). Se yhdistää ketterän ohjelmistokehitysmenetelmän uusimpiin operatiivisiin metodeihin sekä käyttäjäläheiseen ohjelmistosuunnitteluun. Tutkimus sisältää uuden mallin, joka sisältää metodin arvot, tavoitteet, periaatteet, säännöt, prosessimallin, roolit ja vastuut ohjelmistotiimeille. Tämän metodin avulla ohjelmistotiimit voivat mahdollisesti tehokkaammin tuottaa ja ylläpitää käyttäjäystävällisiä palveluita.
