The current global economic crisis has resulted in the strongest recession in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries since the Great Depression in the early 1930s and the 1970s oil shocks. This special issue sets out to explore how the most recent economic crisis impacted immigration and immigration-related policy in the United States of America and in European countries that are part of the OECD. Réalisée en Bourgogne depuis vingt-cinq ans, l'enquête Insertion dans la vie active constitue un outil particulier et unique qui donne la possibilité de suivre l'évolution des conditions d'entrée des jeunes sur le marché du travail. Cette note présente les résultats de la dernière interrogation menée en février 2009, et donne un aperçu de la transition de l'école à l'emploi. En Bourgogne, 7 400 élèves et 4 800 apprentis âgés de 20 ans en moyenne, ont été interrogés sur leur situation professionnelle. Cette note présente les résultats des dernières enquêtes effectuées en 2005, qui appréhendent les situations des jeunes sept mois après la fin de leurs études en Bourgogne.

Regional mobility of the French post secondary graduate students entering the labour market

With the innovations of the national statistical system, the study of the geographical mobility during the transition between school and employment is now possible. This article presents the various regional migratory situations at the end of the Nineties, and the main transformations that has occurred during the last fifteen years. Knowing better the labour migration patterns of new graduates allows us to characterize the various relations that exist between academic background and employment at the regional scale. It appears that there is not an obvious relation between the quality of the transition from school to the labour market and the various regional migratory situations.
Working outside academia? : perceptions of early-career, fixed-term researchers on changing careers

This article examines the perceptions of early-career, fixed-term researchers in Finnish universities towards changing careers. It maps out the reasons this group has considered the change and where they see themselves in five years. As a theoretical framework, a synthesisation of variables related to career change, created by Ryan, Healy, and Sullivan [2012. “Oh, Won’t You Stay? Predictors of Faculty Intent to Leave a Public University.” Higher Education 63: 421–437.], was used. In this study, twelve young students on the autism spectrum were interviewed on preparation for working life, employment guidance, the challenges and strengths of the autism spectrum, and suitable teaching methods. Interviews were supported by a structured and illustrated questionnaire. The data were analysed using key statistics. The results showed that, from the students’ perspective, the most important issues in preparation for work are familiarisation with different jobs, guidance in searching for a suitable job, evaluation of the suitability of the working environment, integration of occupational safety into work skills, and acquiring conversational skills in the workplace. Celem artykułu jest określenie wpływu zasady uprzywilejowania pracownika na swobodę kształtowania przez strony stosunku pracy postanowień umów o pracę oraz umów dodatkowych. W artykule zostały przedstawione argumenty uzasadniające tezę, zgodnie z którą mechanizm przewidziany w art. 18 § 2 kodeksu pracy może znaleźć zastosowanie wyłącznie do postanowień umów o pracę, nie obejmuje natomiast swym zakresem nazwanych i nienazwanych umów dodatkowych zawieranych przez strony stosunku pracy. Jednak o nadaniu określonej klauzuli statusu postanowienia umowy o pracę należy rozstrzygać w oparciu o jej treść, a nie umiejscowienie.
