Tubuloreticular structures (TRS) and cylindric confronting cisternae (CCC) in childhood dermatomyositis.

Tubuloreticular structures (TRS) and cylindric confronting cisternae (CCC) have been observed in circulating lymphocytes and in the muscle of six children with dermatomyositis. The presence of TRS was seen in all cases investigated, the number of CCC increased in various cells with the severity of the disease. Extensive formation of TRS and CCC in childhood dermatomyositis probably reflects local or systemic alpha-interferon production and suggests that some viral factor is responsible for the disease.

Study of liquid–liquid equilibrium of the systems isobutyl acetate+acetic acid+water and isobutyl alcohol+acetic acid+water at different temperatures

Abstract In this work, experimental liquid–liquid equilibria (LLE) data of the systems isobutyl acetate + acetic acid + water and isobutyl alcohol + acetic acid + water are presented. The liquid–liquid equilibria of both systems have been measured at 283.15 and 323.15 K. The NRTL and UNIQUAC models were applied to fit the data for both ternary systems. The interaction parameters obtained from both models successfully correlated the equilibrium compositions. The experimental tie lines were compared to the values predicted by the UNIFAC method. Moreover, the solvent capabilities of isobutyl acetate and isobutyl alcohol were compared.

EZH2 mutations are frequent and represent an early event in follicular lymphoma

Gain of function mutations in the H3K27 methyltransferase EZH2 represent a promising therapeutic target in germinal center lymphomas. In this study, we assessed the frequency and distribution of EZH2 mutations in a large cohort of patients with follicular lymphoma (FL) (n = 366) and performed a longitudinal analysis of mutation during the disease progression from FL to transformed FL (tFL) (n = 33). Mutations were detected at 3 recurrent mutation hot spots (Y646, A682, and A692) in 27% of FL cases with variant allele frequencies (VAF) ranging from 2% to 61%. Impact on ICSI outcomes of adding 24 h of in vitro culture before testicular sperm freezing: a retrospective study.

To compare sperm parameters and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) outcomes for testicular spermatozoa frozen on the day of the biopsy (DO) with those frozen after 24 h of in vitro culture (D1).In this retrospective study, from 1999 to 2012, forty-nine azoospermic patients were included to compare sperm (motility and viability) and outcomes (fertilization (FR), implantation (IR), pregnancy (PR) and delivery rates (DR)).The in vitro culture increased total motility (+2.8 %, p = 0.0161) but decreased viability (-8.3 %, p = 0.007). Vasopressin (AVP) and oxytocin (OT) receptors (nomenclature as recommended by NC-IUPHAR [92]) are activated by the endogenous cyclic nonapeptides vasopressin and oxytocin. These peptides are derived from precursors which also produce neurophysins (neurophysin I for oxytocin; neurophysin II for vasopressin). Vasopressin and oxytocin differ at only 2 amino acids (positions 3 and 8). There are metabolites of these neuropeptides that may be biologically active [67].

Very highly prevalent Macracanthorhynchus hirudinaceus infection of wild boar Sus scrofa in Khuzestan province, south-western Iran

Abstract An epidemiological and pathological study of Macracanthorhynchus hirudinaceus infection in a total of 50 wild boars Sus scrofa attila from cane sugar fields of Iranian Khuzestan was performed. The total prevalence of 64.0 % detected is the highest hitherto known by this acanthocephalan species in wild boars and may reflect a very high contamination of the farm lands studied as the consequence of the crowding of the wild boar population in cane sugar fields. Observations prove that this species is a wild boar gut wall perforating acanthocephalan. Trypanosoma evansi infection in mainland Spain.

An outbreak of Trypanosoma evansi infection that occurred in mainland Spain is described. The outbreak occurred on an equine and camel farm to which dromedary camels from an infected area of the Canary Islands had recently been introduced. One of these camels developed clinical signs and T. evansi was discovered in a blood smear examination. The herd was evaluated in order to determine the extent of the disease. The results showed that 76% of the camels, 35% of the donkeys and 2% of the horses were affected. The animals were isolated and treated using Cymelarsan((R)) (0.5mg/kg). The Measurement of Large Strains Using Electrical Resistance Strain Gages

It is well known that in the range of large strains, the electrical resistance strain gages have a nonlinear behavior, that is the variation of electrical resistance is a nonlinear function of the strain applied to the strain gage, which means that the gage factor K is not constant. Also, the Wheatstone bridge has a nonlinear behavior at large strains. Usually the two nonlinearities have opposite effects, therefore the overall nonlinearity decreases. This article presents an overview of the behavior of strain gages subject to large strains and of the corrections to account for nonlinearities of both the strain gage and the Wheatstone bridge.

We have lnvestigated the factors which determine the initial response to methimazole (time until euthyroidism Is achieved) In Graves' disease.
