Study of drilling and welding laser : dynamics of keyhole

2011

The aim of the present work is to study experimentally the formation of the capillary during the drilling and welding by laser beam and to develop the numerical simulation which allows following the dynamics and the evolution of the keyhole. The zinc was chosen as a test material because its thermodynamical properties are well known. To simplify the problem, in the first place the drilling mechanism was studied. Two experimental methods were used to characterize the evolution of the keyhole: the Direct Observation of Drilled Hole method, which allows the visualization of the keyhole after the application of laser pulses of different durations, and Zn-Quartz method, which allows the direct o…

Radiation Response of Ce-Doped Phosphosilicate Optical Fibers

2014

International audience; We report an experimental study of the radiation effects on silica-based multimode optical fibers (OFs) either doped with Phosphorus or with Phosphorus and Cerium. Online Radiation-Induced-Absorption (RIA) measurements were performed in the UV-visible spectral domain under 10 keV X-ray Irradiation. Optical Absorption (OA) in the Near Infrared Region (NIR) and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) measurements were also performed on γ-irradiated OFs.

Impact of Pulsed Electric Fields on Enzymes

2017

International audience; Pulsed electric field (PEF) processing has emerged as a promising technology in the development of tailor-made processes to effectively control the enzyme activity. It has been proven as an effective technique for the preservation of food products as it can result in substantial inactivation of most undesirable enzymes. When compared to microbial inactivation, however, large specific energy inputs are required to inactivate enzymes. The existing evidence suggests that PEF can also stimulate the activity of beneficial enzymes at low intense treatments. The PEF affects enzyme activity by changing mainly the secondary (α-helix, β-sheets, etc.), tertiary (spatial conform…

Matlab/Simulink-Based Modeling for Industrial Electric Vehicle

2023

The land transport sector has passed through multiple phases of evolution in design, development, and manufacturing of vehicles. In particular, the construction site continues to progress towards the autonomous vehicles (also called self-driving), which were one of its big trends and have become a hot topic in the industrial and academic world. By now, with this new technology of autonomous driving, we can ensure safety by reducing the number of road accidents, also the environmental impact and energy consumption is lessened. The modeling and simulation phases had become a mandatory step to design, characterize and simulate vehicle dynamics while reducing the cost of development. As they pr…

Etude d'un emmanchement fretté compte tenu de l'effet combiné des défauts de forme et d'état de surface

2012

The main purpose of this thesis is to present two contributions in the field of shrink fitassembly taking into account the defects of form and roughness surfaces. The first contributionconcerns the study of the influence of the defect forme on the characteristics of shrinked assemblyusing an approach based on finite element modeling. We found that this defect has a significantinfluence on the resistance of the assembly. The work already done in the laboratory of mechanicsat the University of Bourgogne have been confirmed. In the second contribution, we proposed tointegrate the surface defects (roughness) by creating a homogenized finite element interface. Thistechnique has facilitated the m…

New methods for the determination of local residual stresses

2022

Splat solidification in thermal sprayed coatings relies on phenomena of various origins, time constants, and dimensional scales which altogether lead to complex residual stress states. As a result, in-service performance may be under or overestimated. Hence, this work aims at characterizing residual stress fields using high resolution instruments: a Raman spectrometer and a tailor-made Near-Field Scanning Microwave Microscope (NFSMM). Investigation areas are of 1 µm and 0.020 µm diameter respectively, both techniques are non-destructive and rely on electromagnetic interaction with matter.A preliminary study was conducted on sintered trigonal Cr2O3 with NFSMM as the technique is used for the…

Automatic Processing Scheme for Low Laser Invasiveness Electro Optical Frequency Mapping mode

2016

International audience; Electro optical techniques are efficient backside contactless techniques usually used for design debug and defect location in modern VLSI. Unfortunately, the signal to noise ratio is quite low and depends on laser power with potential device stress due to long acquisition time or high laser power, especially in up to date technologies. Under these conditions, to maintain a good signal or image quality, specific signal or image processing techniques can be implemented. In this paper, we proposed a new spatial filtering by stationary wavelets and contrast enhancement which allows the use of low laser power and short acquisition time in image mode.

Multiobjective optimization and decision making in engineering sciences

2021

AbstractReal-world decision making problems in various fields including engineering sciences are becoming ever more challenging to address. The consideration of various competing criteria related to, for example, business, technical, workforce, safety and environmental aspects increases the complexity of decision making and leads to problems that feature multiple competing criteria. A key challenge in such problems is the identification of the most preferred trade-off solution(s) with respect to the competing criteria. Therefore, the effective combination of data, skills, and advanced engineering and management technologies is becoming a key asset to a company urging the need to rethink how…

Analysis and control of the muscle force by electrostimulation

2019

Muscle reconditioning techniques have been developed extensively in these recent years as part of the reeducation of the atrophied muscle, but also to reinforce the healthy muscle of the sedentary or sportive subject. The monitoring of the stimulated muscle by recording the electrical activity and the muscle response is necessary to detect for example the muscle fatigue and/or avoid tissue damage in the case of deconditioned muscle. The aim of this thesis is initially to analyse the muscle response in terms of force produced as response to the electrostimulation (ES). This analysis has allowed us to develop a new force model that can predict the effect of the stimulation amplitude of the cu…

Coupling between oxidation kinetics and anisothermal oil flow during deep-fat frying

2021

Deep-fat frying is a cooking technique that has been used continuously since prehistoric times. A domestic deep-fryer heated from the bottom develops significant convection inside the bath cavity. It is responsible for very high heat transfer coefficients and the exposure of the deep-frying oil to the atmospheric oxygen. The continuous conversion of gaseous dioxygen into unstable and reactive hydroperoxides and their subsequent advection throughout the bulk volume is at the origin of the main complaints made of frying which includes issues such as odors, fouling, and generation of several toxic compounds. This study analyzes the coupling between natural convection of triacylglycerols and th…
