Preparation of conductive PDDA/(PEDOT:PSS) multilayer thin film: influence of polyelectrolyte solution composition.

Abstract Self-assembled multilayer films made of PEDOT:PSS poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) and PDDA poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) were prepared using layer-by-layer method. In order to modify the growth regime of the multilayer, to fabricate an electrical conductive film and to control its thickness, the effects of pH, type of electrolyte, ionic strength and polyelectrolyte concentration were investigated. Optical reflectometry measurements show that the pH of the solutions has no effect on the film growth while the adsorbed amount increases more rapidly when BaCl2 is used instead of NaCl as electrolyte. A new hyperelastic model for anisotropic hyperelastic materials with one fiber family

International audience; The main goal of this study is to propose a practical application of a new family of transverse anisotropic invariants by designing a strain energy function (SEF) for incompressible fiber-reinforced materials. In order to validate the usability and creativeness of the proposed model, two different fiber-reinforced rubber materials under uniaxial and shear testing are considered. For each kind of material, numerical simulations based on the proposed model are consistent with experimental results and provide information about the effect of the new family of invariants in the construction of the SEF.

International audience; Knowledge of the electrical conductivity of the zone under a delaminated paint film is one necessary input parameter for the simulation of electrochemically driven underpaint corrosion. Infrared laser threshold magnetometry with a NV doped diamond intracavity etalon

International audience; We propose a hybrid laser system consisting of a semiconductor external cavity laser associated to an intra-cavity diamond etalon doped with nitrogen-vacancy color centers. We consider laser emission tuned to the infrared absorption line that is enhanced under the magnetic field dependent nitrogen-vacancy electron spin resonance and show that this architecture leads to a compact solid-state magnetometer that can be operated at room-temperature. The sensitivity to the magnetic field limited by the photon shot-noise of the output laser beam is estimated to be less than 1 pT/ √ Hz. Low-frequency band gap in cross-like holey phononic crystal strip

International audience; A silicon-based cross-like holey phononic crystal (PnC) strip is proposed for the control of elastic waves in the field of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS). The goal is to obtain a broad bandgap at low frequencies with a lightweight structure. In this respect, the effects of varying the in-plane and the out-of-plane geometry parameters are discussed. After design, a gap-to-midgap ratio of 47% is obtained with an intermediate filling fraction of the solid material and a small thickness of the strip. Four different alkylphosphonic acids exhibiting alkyl chain of various size were synthesized and studied: butylphosphonic acid (C4P), octylphosphonic acid (C8P), decylphosphonic acid (C10P), and hexadecylphosphonic acid (C16P). A shear test for structural adhesives used in the consolidation of old timber

A test method was developed specifically for structural adhesives used in thick joints. It is based on compressive shear loading of glued joints (GJ) and solid wood (SW) specimens, before and after a suitable accelerated ageing cycle. The evaluation of results is based on the ratios of wet strength to dry strength and on the comparison of GJ specimens to SW specimens which are prepared from the same batch of wood, in order to minimise the influence of the variability in wood characteristics. Effect of Ni content on the structure and hydrogenation property of mechanically alloyed TiMgNix ternary alloys

Abstract In this study, TiMgNix samples (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1) have been prepared by mechanical alloying using a planetary high-energy ball mill. The structural transformations were characterized by XRD and indicated that all the as-milled TiMgNix alloys consist of mixtures of crystalline Mg and amorphous Ti-Ni-(Mg) phase. TEM analyses also show that nanocrystallites and amorphous phases coexist in the as-milled TiMgNi alloy. Electrochemical test shows that the TiMgNi composition yields the highest discharge capacity. On the origin of the sigmoid shape in the UO2 oxidation weight gain curves

International audience; Cracking and spalling are known to occur during the oxidation of UO2. However, these phenomena are not considered by the existing kinetic models of the oxidation of UO2 into U3O8. In this study the oxidation of UO2 samples of various sizes from the single crystal to nanopowders, has been followed by isothermal and isobaric thermogravimetry, environmental scanning electron microscopy and in situ X-ray diffraction at temperatures ranging from 250 to 370°C in air.
