Automatic and accurate segmentation of the left atrial (LA) cavity and scar can be helpful for the diagnosis and prognosis of patients with atrial fibrillation. However, automating the segmentation can be difficult due to the poor image quality, variable LA shapes, and small discrete regions of LA scars. In this paper, we proposed a fully-automatic method to segment LA cavity and scar from Late Gadolinium Enhancement (LGE) MRIs. For the loss functions, we propose two different losses for each task. This paper proposed a novel physiological approach, which could avoid artifacts occurred in most existing algorithms. Inspired by the property of the human visual system (HVS), this dynamic range expansion scheme performs with a low computational complexity and a limited number of parameters and obtains high-quality HDR results. International audience; This work aimed at combining different segmentation approaches to produce a robust and accurate segmentation result. Three to five segmentation results of the left ventricle were combined using the STAPLE algorithm and the reliability of the resulting segmentation was evaluated in comparison with the result of each individual segmentation method. International audience; Document image binarization is a central problem in many document analysis systems. Indeed, it represents one of the basic challenges, especially in case of historical documents analysis. In this paper, we propose a novel robust multi stage framework that combines different existing document image thresholding methods for the purpose of getting a better binarization result. Fluorescence enhancement of quinolines by protonation.

A study of the fluorescence enhancement of isoquinoline, acridine (benzo[b]quinoline) and benzo[h]quinoline is reported with six organic acids of different pKa values. Protonation was found to be an effective tool in the fluorescence enhancement of quinolines. A significant increase in the fluorescence intensity is observed only when strong acids are used, resulting in an over 50-fold increase in fluorescence with trifluoroacetic or benzenesulfonic acid and isoquinoline in a 1.5 : 1 ratio. The benzenesulfonic acid was found to be the most effective in the protonation of the bases despite its higher pKa value compared to trifluoro- and trichloroacetic acid.
