Maahanmuuttajien kotoutumiskokemukset Etelä-Pohjanmaan maaseutumaisille alueille

Artikkeli tarkastelee maaseutumaisella alueella asuvien maahanmuuttajien kotoutumista useiden eri tekijöiden kautta. Tutkimuksessa on hyödynnetty sekä kvantitatiivista postikyselyä että kvalitatiivista teemahaastattelua. Kotoutumisesta piirtyvä kuva näyttää useimpien maahanmuuttajien kohdalla myönteiseltä. Erityisesti virolaisten tilanne on selvästi muita valoisampi: heidän suomen kielen taitonsa on muita ryhmiä parempi, ja he ovat työllistyneet ja onnistuneet vakauttamaan työmarkkina-asemaansa muita ryhmiä paremmin. The current study tested the effects of an intervention based on the trans-contextual model (TCM) on secondary school PE students' sport injury prevention behavior and on theory-based motivational and social cognition mediators. Participants were PE students (N = 1168; Mage = 13.322 ± 1.045, range = 12-16; female = 51.721%) who participated in a 3-month cluster-randomized controlled trial. Objectives Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) has been inversely associated with risk of cardiometabolic diseases. However, there are no studies comparing the independent associations of CRF scaled by body size and composition using different approaches with cardiometabolic risk factors between children and adults. Antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities of Acacia pennata wild (Mimosaceae)

The butanolic fraction of dried leaves of Acacia pennata (Mimosaceae) was tested for analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities in animal models. It showed significant protective effects against chemical stimuli (acetic acid and formalin) in the mouse. It also produced a significant increase of the threshold of sensitivity to pressure-induced pain in the rats. The extract revealed an inhibitory effect in carrageenin-induced rat paw oedema in the late phase. The results suggested that a peripheral mechanism is involved in the analgesic, associated to anti-inflammatory effect (NSAIDs-like). Intraoral electrostimulator for xerostomia relief: a long-term, multicenter, open-label, uncontrolled, clinical trial

Objective A previous sham-controlled multinational study demonstrated the short-term efficacy and safety for xerostomia treatment of an intraoral device that delivers electrostimulation to the lingual nerve. The objective of this study was to test the hypothesis that those beneficial effects would be sustained over an 11-month period. Novel plasmonic sensor design using plasmon-induced transparency

We introduce a novel sensor concept in the field of plasmonics, namely plasmon-induced transparency sensors. These sensors combine localized particle plasmon resonances with extremely small sensing volume with excellent sharp spectral resonances that show a good respose to refractive index changes of the surrounding environment. The principle is based on the plasmonic analog of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) between a radiative dipole and a nonradiative quadrupole antenna.
