One pathophysiological hypothesis includes nitric oxide (NO) generation. Recently, a functional NO synthase (endothelial type NO synthase [eNOS]), was found to be expressed in human red blood cells. However, to date, activation of red blood cell eNOS has not been shown. Small GTP-binding Rho GTPases regulate important signaling pathways in endothelial cells, but little is known about their role in endothelial cell apoptosis. Clostridial cytotoxins specifically inactivate GTPases by glucosylation [ Clostridium difficile toxin B-10463 (TcdB-10463), C. difficile toxin B-1470 (TcdB-1470)] or ADP ribosylation ( C. botulinum C3 toxin). The present investigation was performed to elucidate the role of purine nucleotides as potential indicators of chemosensitivity of malignant tumors. Drug-sensitive (s) and -resistant (r) tumor cell lines grown as monolayers (s: T47D, MCF-7 wild-type; r: NCI/ADR-RES, MCF-7/MDR) or as multicellular spheroids (T47D; NCI/ADR-RES) were exposed to 0.1, 1.0, and 10.0 microM Doxorubicin for up to 24 h. Abstract An improved method is described for the separation of 22 compounds normally related to purine and 6-thiopurine metabolism in biological materials using high-pressure liquid cation-exchange chromatography on strongly acidic exchange resin. The column (0.18 × 100 cm) is eluted with 0.4 ᴍ ammonium formate, pH 4.6, at a linear flow velocity of 5.2 cm · min-1 at 50 °C. The elution volumes of sulphate anions, allopurinol, 6-thioxanthine, adenine, adenosine, and guanosine are demonstrated additionally to further 16 purine and 6-thiopurine compounds.

Cohen that on the other hand pyrimidine nucleoside analogues have already been used clinically as drugs for a number of years.

Pioderma gangrenoso superficial como complicación de mamoplastia

El Pioderma Gangrenoso (PG) es una rara enfermedad de etiología desconocida, sospechándose que pudiera ser debida a trastornos de autoinmunidad. Presentamos 2 casos de PG Granulomatoso en el postoperatorio mediato (3-6 semanas) en pacientes sometidas a mamoplastia (mastopexia con prótesis). Ambos casos se solucionaron mediante tratamiento con corticoesteroides.

The prototype baculovirus, Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus, an insect pathogen, holds great potential as a gene therapy vector. To develop transductional targeting and gene delivery by baculovirus, we focused on characterizing the nature and regulation of its uptake in human cancer cells. Baculovirus entered the cells along fluid-phase markers from the raft areas into smooth-surfaced vesicles devoid of clathrin. Notably, regulators associated with macropinocytosis, namely EIPA, Pak1, Rab34, and Rac1, had no significant effect on viral transduction, and the virus did not induce fluid-phase uptake.
