Early onset ONJ in patient treated with denosumab and bevacizumab: case report
2016
ATRESIE E STENOSI DELL'INTESTINO TENUE
2015
Le Atresie e le Stenosi sono la causa più frequente di occlusione intestinale neonatale con incidenza pari a 1/5000 nati vivi. Gli Autori presentano la revisione di una casistica del Centro di appartenenza.
Optimization of a decellularized protocol of porcine tracheas. Long-term effects of cryopreservation. A histological study
2021
[EN] Objective: The aim of this study was to optimize a decellularization protocol in the trachea of Sus scrofa domestica (pig) as well as to study the effects of long-term cryopreservation on the extracellular matrix of decellularized tracheas. Methods: Porcine tracheas were decellularized using Triton X-100, SDC, and SDS alone or in combination. The effect of these detergents on the extracellular matrix characteristics of decellularized porcine tracheas was evaluated at the histological, biomechanical, and biocompatibility level. Morphometric approaches were used to estimate the effect of detergents on the collagen and elastic fibers content as well as on the removal of chondrocytes from …
Energy-Linked Reactions Catalyzed by the Purified ATPase Complex (F0F1) from Rhodospirillum rubrum Chromatophores
1980
1. The isolation of the F0F1-ATPase complex from Rhodospirillum rubrum chromatophores by the use of taurodeoxycholate is described. 2. The enzyme preparation contains about 12 polypeptides; five are subunits of the F1 moiety. 3. The ATPase activity of the purified enzyme is dependent on the addition of phospholipids. 4. Km-vales for Mg2+-ATP and Ca2+-ATP are similar to the values obtained for the membrane-bound enzyme. 5. The F0F1-ATPase complex is more than 70% inhibited by oligomycin and N,N′-dicyclohexyl-carbodiimide. 6. The F0F1-ATPase complex was integrated into liposomes. The reconstituted proteoliposomes catalyzed energy transduction as shown by ATP-dependent quenching of acridine dy…
Human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA in primary cervical cancer and in cancer free pelvic lymph nodes--correlation with clinico-pathological parameters and…
2001
OBJECTIVE To assess whether the presence of human papilloma virus (HPV) DNA and/or several genotypes of HPV DNA in primary cervical cancer and cancer free pelvic lymph nodes are correlated with several clinicopathological parameters of well-defined prognostic significance and whether virological parameters are predictors of long-term survival in cancer patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS 223 cases of cervical cancer patients included in this retrospective study underwent follow-up evaluation. Survival and cause of death were examined for 204 (91.4%) patients, with a mean follow-up time of 4.4 years. HPV DNA was detected using the high sensitive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method followed by …

2001
The objective of this study was to assess whether the presence of human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA and/or several genotypes of HPV DNA in cervical cancer are correlated with several clinicopathologic parameters of well-defined prognostic significance and whether virologic parameters are predictors of long-term survival in cancer patients. Two hundred twenty three cases of cervical cancer patients included in this retrospective study underwent follow-up evaluation. Survival and cause of death were examined for 204 (91.4%) patients, with a mean follow-up time of 4.4 years. HPV DNA was detected using the highly sensitive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method followed by HPV DNA sequencing for H…
Osteoradionecrosis and Antiresorptive Drug-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaws
2019
With similar clinical appearances, osteoradionecrosis and antiresorptive drug-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (ARONJ) are different side effects of treatment regimens of mostly malignant diseases. While radiotherapy is usually used to control the progress of locoregional tumors, antiresorptive agents are administered in patients with generalized catabolic bone diseases. Although surgical techniques to treat both diseases are comparable, it should be noted that the pathophysiology is different. For the different genesis of both entities, they are dealt with separately in the following chapter.
Human papillomavirus genotype attribution in invasive cervical cancer: a retrospective cross-sectional worldwide study.
2010
Summary Background Knowledge about the distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes in invasive cervical cancer is crucial to guide the introduction of prophylactic vaccines. We aimed to provide novel and comprehensive data about the worldwide genotype distribution in patients with invasive cervical cancer. Methods Paraffin-embedded samples of histologically confirmed cases of invasive cervical cancer were collected from 38 countries in Europe, North America, central South America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Inclusion criteria were a pathological confirmation of a primary invasive cervical cancer of epithelial origin in the tissue sample selected for analysis of HPV DNA, and informa…
Metabolic classification of human rectal adenocarcinomas: a novel guideline for clinical oncologists?
2003
Based on previous findings in SCC of the human uterine cervix and of the head and neck, metastasis- and survival-related metabolic classification was performed in human rectal adenocarcinomas. Such a characterization is suggested as basis of a novel clinical guideline for an appropriate therapy of epithelium-derived malignancies.Tissue concentrations of ATP, glucose, and lactate in viable tumor regions of 33 pretherapeutically taken cryobiopsies from 24 patients were measured at a microscopic level using the technique of imaging bioluminescence. In metastatic carcinomas, lactate levels were significantly higher (mean+/-SD: 13.4+/-3.8 vs 6.9+/-2.5 micro mol/g, P = 0.0046) and glucose levels s…
