Entanglement controlled single- electron transmittivity

2006

We consider a system consisting of single electrons moving along a 1D wire in the presence of two magnetic impurities. Such system shows strong analogies with a Fabry - Perot interferometer in which the impurities play the role of two mirrors with a quantum degree of freedom: the spin. We have analysed the electron transmittivity of the wire in the presence of entanglement between the impurity spins. The main result of our analysis is that, for suitable values of the electron momentum, there are two maximally entangled state of the impurity spins the first of which makes the wire transparent whatever the electron spin state while the other strongly inhibits the electron transmittivity. Such…

Interaction between hopping and static spins in a discrete network

2010

We consider a process where a spin hops across a discrete network and at certain sites couples to static spins. While this setting is implementable in various scenarios (e.g quantum dots or coupled cavities) the physics of such processes is still basically unknown. Here, we take a first step along this line by scrutinizing a two-site and a three-site lattices, each with two static spins. Despite a generally complex dynamics occurs, we show a regime such that the spin dynamics is described by an effective three-spin chain. Tasks such as entanglement generation and quantum state transfer can be achieved accordingly.

Entanglement of superconducting qubits via microwave fields: Classical and quantum regimes

2008

We study analytically and numerically the problem of two qubits with fixed coupling irradiated with quantum or classical fields. In the classical case, we derive an effective Hamiltonian, and construct composite pulse sequences leading to a CNOT gate. In the quantum case, we show that qubit-qubit-photon multiparticle entanglement and maximally entangled two-qubit state can be obtained by driving the system at very low powers (one quanta of excitation). Our results can be applied to a variety of systems of two superconducting qubits coupled to resonators.

Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya and dipole-dipole interactions affect coupling-based Landau-Majorana-Stückelberg-Zener transitions

2020

It has been theoretically demonstrated that two spins (qubits or qutrits), coupled by exchange interaction only, undergo a coupling-based joint Landau-Majorana-St\"uckelberg-Zener (LMSZ) transition when a linear ramp acts upon one of the two spins. Such a transition, under appropriate conditions on the parameters, drives the two-spin system toward a maximally entangled state. In this paper, effects on the quantum dynamics of the two qudits, stemming from the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) and dipole-dipole (d-d) interactions, are investigated qualitatively and quantitatively. The enriched Hamiltonian model of the two spins, shares with the previous microscopic one the same C2-symmetry which onc…

Validating and controlling quantum enhancement against noise by motion of a qubit

2019

Experimental validation and control of quantum traits for an open quantum system are important for any quantum information purpose. We consider a traveling atom qubit as a quantum memory with adjustable velocity inside a leaky cavity, adopting a quantum witness as a figure of merit for quantumness assessment. We show that this model constitutes an inherent physical instance where the quantum witness does not work properly if not suitably optimized. We then supply the optimal intermediate blind measurements which make the quantum witness a faithful tester of quantum coherence. We thus find that larger velocities protect quantumness against noise, leading to lifetime extension of hybrid qubit…

Generalized conditions for genuine multipartite continuous-variable entanglement

2015

We derive a hierarchy of continuous-variable multipartite entanglement conditions in terms of second-order moments of position and momentum operators that generalizes existing criteria. Each condition corresponds to a convex optimization problem which, given the covariance matrix of the state, can be numerically solved in a straightforward way. The conditions are independent of partial transposition and thus are also able to detect bound entangled states. Our approach can be used to obtain an analytical condition for genuine multipartite entanglement. We demonstrate that even a special case of our conditions can detect entanglement very efficiently. Using multi-objective optimization it is …

Approximate quantum error correction for generalized amplitude damping errors

2014

We present analytic estimates of the performances of various approximate quantum error correction schemes for the generalized amplitude damping (GAD) qubit channel. Specifically, we consider both stabilizer and nonadditive quantum codes. The performance of such error-correcting schemes is quantified by means of the entanglement fidelity as a function of the damping probability and the non-zero environmental temperature. The recovery scheme employed throughout our work applies, in principle, to arbitrary quantum codes and is the analogue of the perfect Knill-Laflamme recovery scheme adapted to the approximate quantum error correction framework for the GAD error model. We also analytically re…

Entanglement production by quantum error correction in the presence of correlated environment

2003

We analyze the effect of a quantum error correcting code on the entanglement of encoded logical qubits in the presence of a dephasing interaction with a correlated environment. Such correlated reservoir introduces entanglement between physical qubits. We show that for short times the quantum error correction interprets such entanglement as errors and suppresses it. However for longer time, although quantum error correction is no longer able to correct errors, it enhances the rate of entanglement production due to the interaction with the environment.

Generation of minimum energy entangled states

2020

Quantum technologies exploiting bipartite entanglement could be made more efficient by using states having the minimum amount of energy for a given entanglement degree. Here, we study how to generate these states in the case of a bipartite system of arbitrary finite dimension either by applying a unitary transformation to its ground state or through a zero-temperature thermalization protocol based on turning on and off a suitable interaction term between the subsystems. In particular, we explicitly identify three possible unitary operators and five possible interaction terms. On the one hand, two of the three unitary transformations turn out to be easily decomposable in terms of local eleme…

CP symmetry and thermal effects on Dirac bi-spinor spin–parity local correlations

2018

Intrinsic quantum correlations supported by the $SU(2)\otimes SU(2)$ structure of the Dirac equation used to describe particle/antiparticle states, optical ion traps and bilayer graphene are investigated and connected to the description of local properties of Dirac bi-spinors. For quantum states driven by Dirac-like Hamiltonians, quantum entanglement and geometric discord between spin and parity degrees of freedom - sometimes mapped into equivalent low energy internal degrees of freedom - are obtained. Such \textit{spin-parity} quantum correlations and the corresponding nonlocal intrinsic structures of bi-spinor fermionic states can be classified in order to relate quantum observables to th…
