Climate Change Education in the Curricula of Technical and Classical Universities

Climate change education is becoming an integral part of the education in study programs at universities in Latvia offering environmental education study programs. In this article, a comparison of approaches of climate change education in classical (University of Latvia) and technical (Riga Technical University) are discussed. Requirements of the labour market are the key factors influencing study content and study methods. Therefore, consultations with major stakeholders and with academics involved in environmental education (e.g. the Council of Environmental Education and Science), may be some of the main tools to implement new concepts.

Parent-Child Similarity in Environmental Attitudes: A Pairwise Comparison

Are adolescents’ environmental attitudes similar to their parents’ attitudes? The main objective of this study is to examine what quantitative associations, if any, exist in parent-child environmental attitudes within the family. The survey data was collected assessing attitudes toward the environment and nature from 15-year-old students (n = 237) and their parents (n = 212) in Finland. A significant positive correlation emerged in environmental attitudes between mothers and fathers. Google Earth geo-education resources: A transnational approach from Ireland, Iceland, Finland, and Norway

The Northern Environmental Education Development (NEED) project was a transnational geo-education resource development initiative cooperated by four European countries: Ireland, Finland, Norway, and Iceland. NEED supported the development of novel geological information resources, and the establishment of geoeducation networks in the four project regions. La “ambientalización” de los estudios de ciencias ambientales en España

Presentamos los resultados de un proceso de identificación de la Educación Ambiental (EA) en los grados de Ciencias Ambientales (CA) en España. Para ello hemos indagado en las páginas web de las universidades, señalando la presencia de la EA, su carácter optativo/obligatorio, los departamentos responsables de la misma y los indicadores de EA y de metodología docente en sus guías docentes.
