There is a clear demand for lecture videos in modern education. Nevertheless, the desire to keep face-to-face education remains as well. In such a case, the natural option is to produce videos in face-to-face teaching situations rather than in a studio environment. The challenge this kind of production faces is how to make it to cover an entire degree program cost-efficiently while serving the purpose intended. Lipase-catalyzed resolution of β-hydroxy selenides

Abstract Eleven β-hydroxy selenides were kinetically resolved using an immobilized lipase (Amano PS-C II) in toluene in the presence of vinyl acetate at 30 °C. This approach provided, in several cases, both enantiomers in high enantiomeric excess. The role of the size of substituents and the behaviour of cyclic β-hydroxy selenides is also discussed. Enantiopure β-hydroxy selenides are useful building blocks. As an application of this chemistry, enantiopure (1 S ,2 R )-indene oxide was obtained in one step from the proper enantiopure β-hydroxy selenide.

Diplomdarbā tiek pētīts, kā iespējams pilnveidot 8. klases skolēnu klausīšanās prasmes, izmantojot autentiskos video materiālus angļu valodas stundās. Darbs sniedz ieskatu klausīšanās prasmju nozīmē komunikācijā un autentisko video materiālu izmantošanā angļu valodas stundās. Izvēlētā pētījuma metode bija gadījuma pētījums kādā no Latvijas vidusskolām. Skolēnu aptaujas, testi, skolēnu atsauksmes un intervijas ar trīs angļu valodas skolotājām tika izmantotas kā datu ieguves metodes. mRNA homoeostasis is favoured by crosstalk between transcription and degradation machineries. Both the Ccr4-Not and the Xrn1-decaysome complexes have been described to influence transcription. While Ccr4-Not has been shown to directly stimulate transcription elongation, the information available on how Xrn1 influences transcription is scarce and contradictory. In this study we have addressed this issue by mapping RNA polymerase II (RNA pol II) at high resolution, using CRAC and BioGRO-seq techniques in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Teleost fishes constitute the most species-rich vertebrate clade and exhibit extensive genetic and phenotypic variation, including diverse immune defense strategies. The genomic basis of a particularly aberrant strategy is exemplified by Atlantic cod, in which a loss of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) II functionality coincides with a marked expansion of MHC I genes. Through low-coverage genome sequencing (9–39×), assembly and comparative analyses for 66 teleost species, we show here that MHC II is missing in the entire Gadiformes lineage and thus was lost once in their common ancestor.
