The decision-making process for breast reconstruction after cancer surgery: Representations of heterosexual couples in long-standing relationships

Objectives Most people deal with intrusive life events such as cancer and the care trajectory together with their intimate partners. To our knowledge, no research has studied the involvement of the partner in the decision-making process regarding breast reconstruction (BR) after cancer. This study aimed to gain a better understanding of the couples’ decision-making process for BR in the cancer context and particularly to investigate the partners’ involvement in this process. Minding the Gaps : The Role of Finnish Civil Society Organizations in the Labour Market Integration of Migrants

AbstractThe growing role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in welfare service provision is sometimes portrayed as a threat to welfare state universalism in Nordic societies. In Finland, CSOs co-produce integration services alongside comprehensive official integration programmes, compensating for gaps and shortcomings in those services. We identify three “gaps”, which are (1) limited availability of services in terms of time and target group, (2) lack of direct labour market contacts and (3) limited flexibility to serve individual needs. Since the 1990s, the number of migrants to Finland has increased steadily, motivating the adoption of various policy measures to regulate migration and support integration. Positive gender congruency effects on shopper responses:Field evidence from a gender egalitarian culture

National audience; This field study examined how customer-employee interactions are affected by the congruency between an employee's gender and the perceived gender image of the consumption context in one of the most gender equal cultures in the world (Scandinavia). Mystery shoppers had a service encounter with an employee across a set of physical commercial settings that were classified according to their gender image. Gender matters in venture creation decision

Abstract This study provides new evidences on the way men and women process the information in venture creation decision (VCD) and the differences that may arise when taking this decision. To reach this objective, this study carries out an experiment and identifies 120,536 people from twenty-five countries with different levels of development. The main finding indicates that although men and women process information differently, new generations of women begin to process information like men do, which might indicate that efforts in gender equality policies may be working but are not yet sufficient.

From fracture to damage mechanics: a behavior law for microcracked composites using the concept of crack opening mode

International audience; Many studies have been carried out in order to build a coherent macroscopic behavior law for a composite containing microcracks. All of them are only partially coherent and none of them is complete. This study proposes a hyperelastic behavior law for a microcracked composite, respecting all the conditions associated with the damage activation/deactivation, stress/strain relation continuity, induced anisotropy and the Clausius–Duhem inequality. This approach is based on the definition of the Crack Opening Mode for Damage Mechanics as it exists in Fracture Mechanics.

Bidirectional labeling in column-generation algorithms for pickup-and-delivery problems

Abstract For the exact solution of many types of vehicle-routing problems, column-generation based algorithms have become predominant. The column-generation subproblems are then variants of the shortest-path problem with resource constraints which can be solved well with dynamic-programming labeling algorithms. For vehicle-routing problems with a pickup-and-delivery structure, the strongest known dominance between two labels requires the delivery triangle inequality (DTI) for reduced costs to hold.
