ANALYSIS OF A WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM BY MEANS OF SIMULATION EXPERIMENTS
2011
The supply chains for perishable products are nowadays affected by significant wastes and losses. Their management hence requires optimized approaches in order to remove such inefficiencies. In particular optimized warehouse management policies is a well established research topic which has been recently enriched with specific formulations for deteriorating stocks and shelf life based picking rules. In such context the proposed research aims at investigating the optimal warehouse management policy, taking into account the effects of uncertainty by means of simulation and approaching the effect of optimal picking rules. In the proposed approach, on the basis of a Weibull deterioration proces…

Quality-control procedure for dry-process rubberised asphalt mastics
2019
Crumb Rubber (CR) can be incorporated into asphalt mixes via the dry process by directly adding CR into the mixer together with other asphalt mixture’s components, or with the wet process where the CR is used as a bitumen modifier. While the wet process allows an accurate monitoring of the interaction between CR and bitumen, the lack of control represents a main issue in the dry process. In fact, in the latter the CR particles keep swelling during hauling and possibly also after paving operations, often causing workability issues and premature failures. This study wants to provide a methodology that could help quality control procedures of bitumen/filler/rubber systems during mixing, haulin…
Association between resting blood pressure and maximal blood pressure response to exercise and arterial health
2022
We investigated the longitudinal associations of blood pressure, cardiorespiratory fitness, and arterial stiffness among children. Arterial stiffening has been repeatedly shown to be a cardiovascular mortality predictor and can be observed early in childhood. As such, it is crucial to understand whether a child’s blood pressure, fitness level, and body composition can predict early signs of atherosclerosis and arterial stiffening. The current study examined the relationship between blood pressure, cardiorespiratory fitness, and arterial stiffness over time in children, using data from the Physical and Nutrition in Children (PANIC) Study. It is a physical and dietary intervention study condu…
Stationary and Nontationary Response Probability Density Function of a Beam under Poisson White Noise
2011
In this paper an approximate explicit probability density function for the analysis of external oscillations of a linear and geometric nonlinear simply supported beam driven by random pulses is proposed. The adopted impulsive loading model is the Poisson White Noise , that is a process having Dirac’s delta occurrences with random intensity distributed in time according to Poisson’s law. The response probability density function can be obtained solving the related Kolmogorov-Feller (KF) integro-differential equation. An approximated solution, using path integral method, is derived transforming the KF equation to a first order partial differential equation. The method of characteristic is the…
ChemInform Abstract: Assignment of the Absolute Configuration and Total Synthesis of (+)-Caripyrin.
2015
The antifungal secondary metabolite (+)-caripyrin was studied by vibrational circular dichroism spectroscopy. Analysis of the recorded data, with the Boltzmann weighted-average of the spectra calculated at the B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) level of theory for all relevant conformers, unequivocally proved the (R,R)-configuration for the dextrorotatory natural product. Based on this finding, a short enantioselective synthesis of (+)-caripyrin was developed.
Saddle index properties, singular topology, and its relation to thermodynamic singularities for aϕ4mean-field model
2004
We investigate the potential energy surface of a ${\ensuremath{\phi}}^{4}$ model with infinite range interactions. All stationary points can be uniquely characterized by three real numbers ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{+},{\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{0},{\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{\ensuremath{-}}$ with ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{+}+{\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{0}+{\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{\ensuremath{-}}=1$, provided that the interaction strength $\ensuremath{\mu}$ is smaller than a critical value. The saddle index ${n}_{s}$ is equal to ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{0}$ and its distribution function has a maximum at ${n}_{s}^{\mathrm{max}}=1∕3$. The density $p(e)$ of stationary points with energy per particle $e$, as well as…
Champs de vecteurs analytiques commutants, en dimension 3 ou 4: existence de zeros communs
1992
One proves the existence of a common zero for any two ℝ-analytic commuting vector fields on a 4-dimensional manifold with not zero Euler characteristic. A local version of this result remains true on 3-manifolds.
Non-linear systems under parametric alpha-stable LÉVY WHITE NOISES
2005
In this study stochastic analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems under a-stable, multiplicative white noise has been performed. Analysis has been conducted by means of the Ito rule extended to the case of α-stable noises. In this context the order of increments of Levy process has been evaluated and differential equations ruling the evolutions of statistical moments of either parametrically and external dynamical systems have been obtained. The extended Ito rule has also been used to yield the differential equation ruling the evolution of the characteristic function for parametrically excited dynamical systems. The Fourier transform of the characteristic function, namely the probability den…
