Impaired exercise tolerance is associated with increased urine albumin excretion in the early stages of essential hypertension

Background: Our aim was to investigate the relationship between impaired exercise capacity and albumin excretion level in the setting of never treated essential hypertension. Body weight changes and the A-6G polymorphism of the angiotensinogen gene

BACKGROUND: The objective of the study was to analyze the relationship of polymorphisms of the angiotensinogen gene with changes in body weight during 3 y of antihypertensive treatment, in a group of young adults with essential hypertension. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of a resistance exercise session (RES) on free amino acid concentrations and protein synthesis and breakdown of the vastus lateralis (VL) muscle during recovery in male subjects.Both the exercise group (EG) and the control group (CG) consisted of six healthy physically active men. Long-Term Results of Endoscopic Adrenalectomy for Conn's Syndrome

The long-term effect of adrenalectomy on aldosterone-producing adenomas of the adrenal gland is controversially discussed. The aim of this study was to analyze the long-term course, with special consideration of factors of persisting hypertension after endoscopic adrenalectomy, for Conn's syndrome. Between February 1994 and March 2004, 40 patients with Conn's syndrome underwent endoscopic adrenalectomy. Data were recorded prospectively. Treatment with essential amino acids in patients on chronic hemodialysis: a double blind cross-over study.

Patients on chronic hemodialysis may suffer from a latent protein deficiency, and therapy with essential amino acids has been recommended. In a double blind cross-over study, 13 hemodialysis patients received orally 15.7 g of essential amino acids daily over a 3-month period. Patients were on a liberal diet, containing 1 g of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. Hemodialysis was adequate. Therapy resulted in an increase in urea, uric acid, C3 c complement factor and a fall in C4. Lysine levels increased and phenylalanine fell.
