Efficiency of antidepressant drugs as monoamine reuptake inhibitors: analysis of the hydrophobicity influence using biopartitioning micellar chromato…

2004

The reuptake blockade of biogenic amines by antidepressants is related not only to their therapeutics effects, but also to their side effects and potential drug-drug interactions. As an alternative to classical quantitative structure-activity relationships studies, in this work we propose different quantitative retention-activity relationships (QRAR) models that are able to describe the monoamine reuptake inhibition by antidepressants. The retention of compounds is measured using a biopartitioning micellar chromatography (BMC) system that can simulate the same hydrophobic, electronic and steric molecular interactions as those that condition drug activity. Since all the compounds considered …

North Mesopotamian Comb-Incised and Comb-Impressed Pottery

2014

Tis contribution focuses on a distinctive kind of pottery decoration, geometric in nature and characterised by multiple parallel line incisions and/or impressions obtained before fring by means of a comb-like toothed tool operating on the potter’s wheel; therefore, in the archaeological literature it is usually referred to as “Comb-incised Ware” or, more generally, “Combed Ware”.

Elecciones primarias en España. 1993-2015

2015

Comparative Analysis of the Vascular Actions of Diterpenes Isolated from Euphorbia canariensis

1998

Abstract We have analysed the effects of 2,3-diepiingol 7,12-diacetate-8-isobutyrate (compound 1), ingenol-3-angelate-17-benzoate (compound 2), ingenol-3-angelate-17-benzoate-20-acetate (compound 3) and 3,5,7,8,9,15-hexahydroxyjatropha-6(17),11-dien-14-one-5,8-bis(2-methylbutyrate)-7-(2-methylpropionate) (compound 4), four diterpenes isolated from E. canariensis, on the isometric tension developed by isolated rabbit basilar and carotid arteries. Concentration-response curves to these compounds were obtained cumulatively in both arteries at resting tension and active tone (KCl, 50 mM). At resting tension a concentration-dependent contraction was induced by the four compounds. In the basilar …

Violence Through Words: Cultural Aspects and Performative Agency

2020

This chapter aims at describing the ways and ploys used by words (in the various public and private contexts where they define relations) conveying a form of symbolic violence aimed at classifying genders as they play out their respective identity roles. To this end, the author refers to “euphemized discourse” (Bourdieu, 1993) and the concept of “agency” (Duranti, Etnopragmatica. La forza nel parlare. Carocci Editore, Rome, Italy, 2007) in order to describe the process of naturalization of discursive practices geared towards affirmation of the androcentric system of language. Here, a variant of Mediterranean culture which remains patriarchal and sexist is examined by means of discourse anal…

"Per via di levare". Scavare e sottrarre in architettura

2014

Aneuploid IMR90 cells induced by depletion of pRB, DNMT1 and MAD2 show a common gene expression signature

2019

Chromosome segregation defects lead to aneuploidy which is a major feature of solid tumors. How diploid cells face chromosome mis-segregation and how aneuploidy is tolerated in tumor cells are not completely defined yet. Thus, an important goal of cancer genetics is to identify gene networks that underlie aneuploidy and are involved in its tolerance. To this aim, we induced aneuploidy in IMR90 human primary cells by depleting pRB, DNMT1 and MAD2 and analyzed their gene expression profiles by microarray analysis. Bioinformatic analysis revealed a common gene expression profile of IMR90 cells that became aneuploid. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) also revealed gene-sets/pathways that are …

DNA integrity, growth pattern, spindle formation, chromosomal constitution and imprinting patterns of mouse oocytes from vitrified pre-antral follicl…

2010

Cryopreservation of follicles for culture and oocyte growth and maturation in vitro provides an option to increase the number of fertilizable oocytes and restore fertility in cases where transplantation of ovarian tissue poses a risk for malignant cell contamination. Vitrification for cryopreservation is fast and avoids ice crystal formation. However, the influences of exposure to high concentrations of cryoprotectants on follicle development, oocyte growth and maturation, and particularly, on the DNA integrity and methylation imprinting has not been studied systematically. Follicle survival and development, DNA damage, oocyte growth patterns, maturation, spindle formation and chromosomal c…
