Skutki tzw. postępowania incydentalnego w słowackim prawie restrukturyzacyjnym

2019

This study is devoted to the analysis of Slovak restructuring law limited to the interpretation of § 124 sec. 6 ZoKR. The provisions of Slovak law in relation to claims reported but not recognized in the restructuring proceedings allow creditors to bring legal action against the debtor, under the so-called incidental action. The effects of the court’s decision issued after conducting such proceedings are set out in § 124 sec. 6 ZoKR. The content of the study presents arguments for the thesis that the term “ne mozno voci dlznikovi vymahat”, as used in § 124 para. 6 ZoKR, carries a substantive effect of the expiry of the claim, but as a result of the court’s recognition of the case in an inci…

Wygaśnięcie roszczenia jako następstwo braku zgłoszenia wierzytelności w słowackim prawie restrukturyzacyjnym

2019

This study is devoted to the analysis of Slovak restructuring law limited to the interpretation of § 120 sec. 1 ZoKR, which introduces a very interesting legal structure. It is not permissible to recover from the debtor – after initiation of Slovak restructuring proceedings –claims arising before the initiation of the proceedings in the other way than in restructuring proceedings. Upon completing the restructuring proceedings and approving the restructuring plan, the regulations preclude the pursuit of claims from the debtor by those creditors who did not submit their claims in the restructuring proceedings, because the debtor’s obligation becomes incomplete. Used in § 120 sec. 1 ZoKR, the …

Chemical Correlations Between Industrial Curds and Final Cheeses. Can Cheesemakers Standardise Productions?

2016

The chemical composition of milks and curds influences the microbial ecology and chemical features of produced cheeses. This statement is quite obvious because ‘normal’ cheeses—products with a prevailing ingredient, milk—are obtained by means of the transformation of the main raw material and the addition of minor components. Because of the possible scarcity of readily available milk in many regions or economic areas, the industry of milk and dairy products, including cheeses, has improved the production of ready-to-use curds. These products, also named ‘industrial curds’, are produced exclusively for further cheesemaking processes. For this reason, ready-to-use curds are pre-packaged with …

Noninvasive methods for the detection of upper and lower airway inflammation in atopic children

2006

Background Exhaled nitric oxide (FE NO ) and exhaled breath condensate (EBC) are noninvasive methods to assess inflammation. Objective To investigate the role of the FE NO and of the EBC pH and IL-5 levels in atopic children. Methods We evaluated oral and nasal FE NO and the pH and IL-5 of oral and nasal EBC in children with atopic dermatitis (AD; n=18), allergic rhinitis (AR; n=18), intermittent asthma (n = 21), moderate persistent asthma (n = 18), and healthy controls (HCs; n=16). Results Oral FE NO was significantly increased in asthma, whereas the nasal values were increased in AR and asthma in comparison with HCs. The pH of oral EBC was lower in AD and asthma than in AR and HCs, wherea…

Synthetic Pulmonary Surfactant Preparations: New developments and future trends

2008

Pulmonary surfactant is a lipid-protein complex that coats the interior of the alveoli and enables the lungs to function properly. Upon its synthesis, lung surfactant adsorbs at the interface between the air and the hypophase, a capillary aqueous layer covering the alveoli. By lowering and modulating surface tension during breathing, lung surfactant reduces respiratory work of expansion, and stabilises alveoli against collapse during expiration. Pulmonary surfactant deficiency, or dysfunction, contributes to several respiratory pathologies, such as infant respiratory distress syndrome (IRDS) in premature neonates, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in children and adults. The ma…

The bulbar respiratory centre in the rabbit. I. Changes of respiratory parameters caused by intermittent electrical bulbar stimulation during inspira…

1976

In anesthetized rabbits, spirogram and diaphragmatic activity were examined during electrical stimulation of the bulbar lateral reticular formation. The activity of bulbar respiratory neurons was recorded contra-or ipsilaterally to the stimulation site. One volley of repetitive stimuli per breath was delivered during either inspiration or expiration. 1. Each volley of about 120 ms duration at 100 pulses per second, delivered early ininspiration, caused an immediate and transient inhibition of the diaphragmatic activity. An inspiratory, rebound comprising lengthening of inspiration and increase in tidal volume occurred. a) “Inspiratory” and “expiratory-inspiratory” phase-spanning neurons exh…

Influence of inspiration to expiration ratio on cyclic recruitment and derecruitment of atelectasis in a saline lavage model of acute respiratory dis…

2015

OBJECTIVE Cyclic recruitment and derecruitment of atelectasis can occur during mechanical ventilation, especially in injured lungs. Experimentally, cyclic recruitment and derecruitment can be quantified by respiration-dependent changes in PaO2 (ΔPaO2), reflecting the varying intrapulmonary shunt fraction within the respiratory cycle. This study investigated the effect of inspiration to expiration ratio upon ΔPaO2 and Horowitz index. DESIGN Prospective randomized study. SETTING Laboratory investigation. SUBJECTS Piglets, average weight 30 ± 2 kg. INTERVENTIONS At respiratory rate 6 breaths/min, end-inspiratory pressure (Pendinsp) 40 cm H2O, positive end-expiratory pressure 5 cm H2O, and FIO2…

New evidence in one-lung ventilation

2017

Mechanical ventilation in thoracic surgery has undergone significant changes in recent years due to the implementation of the protective ventilation. This review will analyze recent ventilatory strategies in one-lung ventilation. A MEDLINE research was performed using Mesh term "One-Lung Ventilation" including randomized clinical trials, metanalysis, reviews and systematic reviews published in the last 6 years. Search was performed on 21st March 2017. A total of 75 articles were initially found. After title and abstract review 14 articles were included. Protective ventilation is not simply synonymous of low tidal volume ventilation, but it also includes routine use of PEEP and alveolar recr…

Modifications of airway responsiveness to adenosine 5'-monophosphate and exhaled nitric oxide concentrations after the pollen season in subjects with…

2002

s: To determine the effect of cessation of exposure to pollen on airway responsiveness to adenosine 5'-monophosphate (AMP) in subjects with pollen-induced rhinitis, and to explore the relationship between changes in airway responsiveness and changes in exhaled nitric oxide (ENO) levels.Subjects were studied during the pollen season and out of season.Specialist allergy unit in a university hospital.Fourteen subjects without asthma with pollen-induced rhinitis who showed bronchoconstriction in response to methacholine and AMP during the pollen season and 10 healthy nonatopic control subjects. In subjects with pollen-induced rhinitis, ENO concentrations, provocative concentration of agonist cau…

Paired Inspiratory/Expiratory Volumetric Thin-Slice CT Scan for Emphysema Analysis

2005

Purpose: The aim of the study was to use three-dimensional high-resolution CT scan data sets in inspiration and expiration for the quantitative evaluation of emphysema. Using an advanced dedicated semiautomatic analysis tool, the functional inspiratory/expiratory shifts of emphysema volume and clusters were quantified. The pulmonary function test (PFT) served as the clinical “gold standard.” Materials and methods: Thirty-one patients (9 women and 22 men; mean [± SD] age, 60 ± 8 years) who had severe emphysema due to COPD (Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease [GOLD] class III and IV) were included in the study. All patients underwent paired inspiratory/expiratory multidetec…
