Dual mode of action of grape cane extracts against Botrytis cinerea
2019
International audience; Crude extracts of Vitis vinifera canes represent a natural source of stilbene compounds with well characterized antifungals properties. In our trials, exogenous application of a stilbene extract (SE) obtained from grape canes on grapevine leaves reduces the necrotic lesions caused by Botrytis cinerea. The SE showed to possess a direct antifungal activity by inhibiting the mycelium growth. The activation of some grapevine defense mechanism was also investigated. H2O2 production and activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) phosphorylation cascades as well as accumulation of stilbenoid phytoalexins were explored on grapevine cell suspension. Moreover, the t…

La céramique Rhin-Suisse-France orientale de Passy "Richebourg Ouest" : un ensemble du Bronze final IIB dans l'Yonne
2010
A 1994 archaeological evaluation at Passy «Richebourg» (Yonne) brought to light a pit containing material dating to the second period of the Late Bronze Age. The typochronological analysis of this material has dated it to the Bronze final IIb (well-known period in the East of France). This work is part of a number of short papers allowing us to work on the precise dating of this second period of the Late Bronze Age in the Yonne area.
Multi-Scale Feature Extraction for Vehicle Detection Using Phis-Lbp
2018
International audience; Multi-resolutionobjectdetectionfacesseveraldrawbacksincludingitshighdimensionalityproducedby a richer image representation in different channels or scales. In this paper, we propose a robust and lightweight multi-resolution method for vehicle detection using local binary patterns (LBP) as channel feature. Algorithm acceleration is done using LBP histograms instead of multi-scale feature maps and by extrapolating nearby scales to avoid computing each scale. We produce a feature descriptor capable of reaching a similar precision to other computationally more complex algorithms but reducing its size from 10 to 800 times. Finally, experiments show that our method can obt…
Phytoextractors of metal(loid)s of the Italian flora: An Outline
Intensive farming, wastewater irrigation, mining, heavy industry, smelting procedures and improper waste disposal are some of the human activities that contribute to heavy metal soil contamination (Sharma et al. 2007; Khan et al. 2008; Yu et al. 2008). As heavy metals cannot be degraded by microorganisms and tend to remain in polluted sites for long periods of time, soil contamination by heavy metals represents a particular environmental concern and a serious threat to human health. Conventional soil remediation techniques, such as soil washing, excavation, in situ vitrification, solidification and stabilization, can be effectively employed in order to achieve remediation of heavy metal con…
α-Aminophosphonates, Phosphinates, and Phosphine Oxides as Extraction and Precipitation Agents for Rare Earth Metals, Thorium, and Uranium : A Review
2022
α-Aminophosphonates, -phosphinates, and -phosphine oxides are a group of organophosphorus compounds that were investigated as extraction agents for rare earth (RE) metals and actinoids for the first time in the 1960s. However, more systematic investigations of their extraction properties towards REs and actinoids were not started until the 2010s. Indeed, recent studies have shown that these α-amino-functionalized compounds can outperform the commercial organophosphorus extraction agents in RE separations. They have also proven to be very efficient extraction and precipitation agents for recovering Th and U from RE concentrates. These actinoids coexist with REs in some of the commercially im…
REMOVAL OF BITTER COMPOUNDS FROM CITRUS BYPRODUCTS
2013
Bitter compounds such as limonoids, which consist of oxygenated triterpenoid compounds, are present in citrus fruits. Removal of limonoids from citrus fruits is of considerable importance for the citrus industry. Researchers have removed limonoids from citrus fruits and citrus byproducts using organic solvents. The objective of this study was to use a simpler method to remove limonoids from citrus byproducts.
Passive sampling in monitoring of nonylphenol ethoxylates and nonylphenol in aquatic environments
2012
The present practices for determining the concentration levels of various pollutants are in many respects insufficient and for this reason, there is an urgent need especially to develop more cost-effective sampling methods. In this study, a novel passive sampling tool (the Chemcatcher®) for monitoring nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEOs) and nonylphenol (NP) in aqueous media was tested. These environmentally harmful substances have been widely used in different household and industrial applications and they affect aquatic ecosystems, for example, by acting as endocrine disrupting compounds. The highest accumulation of NPEOs and NP in laboratory-scale tests was obtained when using an SDB-XC (stan…
