Comparative assessment of solid-phase extraction clean-up procedures, GC columns and perfluoroacylation reagents for determination of type B trichoth…
2005
Abstract Various solid-phase extraction (SPE) procedures for clean-up, two perfluoroacylation reagents (pentafluoropropionic anhydride (PFPA) and heptafluorobutyric anhydride (HFBA)) and two chromatographic columns (HP-1701 and HP-5) have been assessed comparatively to achieve the determination of type B trichothecenes (deoxynivalenol (DON), nivalenol (NIV), 3- and 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol (3- and 15-ADON)) in wheat grain by gas chromatography (GC)–electron-capture detection (ECD). Spiked wheat samples were extracted with acetonitrile–water (84:16, v/v). Tested SPE procedures were MycoSep 225 column, Florisil and different cartridges prepared in the laboratory with mixtures of various sorben…
Potential use of pulsed electric technologies and ultrasounds to improve the recovery of high-added value compounds from blackberries
2015
Abstract A better knowledge of the effect of non-conventional extraction technologies, which can avoid the use of high temperatures and toxic solvents, on the antioxidant compounds recovery from blackberries, is necessary. Thus, high voltage electrical discharges (HVED), pulsed electric fields (PEF), and ultrasounds (USN) treatments were applied in order to evaluate the effects of processing on protein, total phenolics and anthocyanins extraction from blackberries. Moreover, two-stage extraction involving the use of HVED, PEF and USN as pre-treatments and supplementary extraction during 5 h with hot water at mild temperature (50 °C) or an hydroalcoholic solution (30% ethanol, w/w) was evalu…

In this paper we incorporate recently developed novel optical approach for extraction of remote vibration sources to estimate the alcohol concentration in blood stream.
Rapid fluorimetric assay for primary amine groups in water samples
2003
Bond Elut C(18) solid-phase extraction cartridges were used for pre-concentration followed by derivatization with o-phthaldialdehyde-N-acetylcysteine (OPA-NAC) of primary amines in water. Optimal conditions were: conditioning the cartridges with borate buffer pH 10.4, retention of the primary amines, addition of the OPA-NAC(3.7 mmol L(-1)) 1:1 molar ratio and borate buffer pH 8, elution of the isoindol with MeOH-borate buffer (9:1) pH 10.2 and fluorescence measurement. The equations of the calibration graphs for methylamine, ethylamine, propylamine, butylamine, pentylamine, and beta-phenylethylamine at lambda(excitation)=330 nm and lambda(emission)=440 nm, in the optimal conditions are pres…
Improved column-based radiochemical processing of the generator produced 68Ga.
2011
An improved chemical strategy for processing of the generator produced (68)Ga was developed based on processing of the original (68)Ge/(68)Ga generator eluate on a micro-column. Direct pre-concentration and purification of the eluted (68)Ga is performed on a cation-exchange resin in hydrochloric acid/acetone media. A supplementary step based on a second micro-column filled with a second resin allows direct re-adsorption of (68)Ga eluted from the cation exchanger. (68)Ga is finally striped from the second resin with a small volume of pure water. For this purpose a strong anion exchanger and a novel extraction chromatographic resin based on tetraalkyldiglycolamides are characterized. The stra…
Steam-activated FeMFI zeolites. Evolution of iron species and activity in direct N2O decomposition
2003
Abstract In this paper the effect of the composition and steaming conditions of FeMFI catalysts on activity in direct N2O decomposition is investigated. MFI zeolites with different framework compositions (FeAlSi, FeGaSi, and FeSi) and without iron ( 100 mbar H2O in N2) favor the extraction of framework iron, enabling the application of lower activation temperatures. The optimum temperature during steam activation is that at which extraction of framework iron is complete without extensive clustering of extra-framework iron species into oxide particles, as was demonstrated by transmission electron microscopy and electrochemical characterization of the samples. Additional experiments show…
Tricks and Tracks in the Identification and Quantification of Endocannabinoids
2013
Abstract The endocannabinoid system serves pivotal roles in a diverse range of physiological and pathophysiological states, including behavior, pain, schizophrenia, obesity, Alzheimer disease, multiple sclerosis and cardiovascular disease. A number of endocannabinoids (eCBs) and their receptors have been characterised and identified in a plethora of biological matrices. The eCBs include N-arachidonoyl ethanolamine (anandamide), 2-arachidonoyl glycerol, 2-arachidonoyl glyceryl ether (noladin ether), O-arachidonoyl ethanolamine (virodhamine) and N-arachidonoyl dopamine. Advanced targeted mass spectrometry methods, particularly the selected reaction monitoring, has facilitated sensitive quanti…
Extraction behavior of rutherfordium into tributylphosphate from hydrochloric acid
2007
The extraction behavior of rutherfordium (Rf) into tributylphosphate (TBP) from hydrochloric acid (HCl) has been studied together with those of the lighter group-4 elements Zr and Hf. The extractability of261Rf,169Hf, and85Zr into TBP was investigated under identical conditions in 7.2–8.0 M HCl by on-line reversed-phase extraction chromatography. The percent extractions of Rf, Hf, and Zr into the TBP resin increase steeply with increasing HCl concentration, and the order of extraction is Zr > Hf ≈ Rf. By considering the order of chloride complexation among these elements, it is suggested that the stability of the TBP complex of Rf tetrachloride is lower than those of Zr and Hf.
Selective Cobalt over Nickel separation using neat and confined ionic liquids
2020
International audience; Task Specific Ionic Liquids (TSILs) generated by association between tetraalkylammonium cations and coordinating anions such as dicyanamide (Dca-) and thiocyanate (SCN-) were used for the selective separation of Ni(II) over Co(II). SCN-based TSIL presents higher extraction efficiency than the Dca-based one towards Co(II) (E = 85.4 % vs 54.6 %) and Ni (II) (E = 22 % vs 0.5%) but lower separation factors (βCo/Ni = 21 vs 239). Interestingly, extraction of Co(II) and Ni(II) in Dca-based TSIL can be enhanced using salts with chaotropic anions such as NaNO3 (E > 90 % for Co(II) and E = 85% for Ni(II)). The use of NaCl allows, moreover, the efficient separation of both ions…
Maturation of a Key Resource – The Germanium-68/Gallium-68 Generator: Development and New Insights
2011
(68)Ge/(68)Ga radionuclide generators have been investigated for almost fifty years, since the cyclotron-independent availability of positron emitting (68)Ga via the (68)Ge/(68)Ga system had always attracted researches working in basic nuclear chemistry as well as radiopharmaceutical chemistry. However, it took decades and generations of research (and researchers) to finally reach a level of (68)Ge/(68)Ga radionuclide generator designs adequate to the modern requirements of radiometal labelling chemistry. Nevertheless, most of the existing commercial generator systems address aspects of (68)Ge breakthrough and safe synthesis of (68)Ga radiopharmaceuticals by adopting eluate post-processing …
