Search for the radiative leptonic decay D+→γe+νe

Using an electron-positron collision data sample of 2.93 fb(-1) collected at a center-of-mass energy of root s = 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we present the first search for the radiative leptonic decay D+ -> gamma e(+)nu(e). The analysis is performed with a double-tag method. We do not observe a significant D+ -> gamma e(+)nu(e) signal, and obtain an upper limit on the branching fraction of D+ -> gamma e(+)nu(e) decay with the energy of radiative photon larger than 10 MeV of 3.0 x 10(-5) at the 90% confidence level.
Comments on the dispersion relation method to vector–vector interaction

We study in detail the method proposed recently to study the vector-vector interaction using the $N/D$ method and dispersion relations, which concludes that, while for $J=0$, one finds bound states, in the case of $J=2$, where the interaction is also attractive and much stronger, no bound state is found. In that work, approximations are done for $N$ and $D$ and a subtracted dispersion relation for $D$ is used, with subtractions made up to a polynomial of second degree in $s-s_\mathrm{th}$, matching the expression to $1-VG$ at threshold. Two-loop divergences of massive scattering amplitudes in non-abelian gauge theories

The infrared divergences of QCD scattering amplitudes can be derived from an anomalous dimension \Gamma, which is a matrix in color space and depends on the momenta and masses of the external partons. It has recently been shown that in cases where there are at least two massive partons involved in the scattering process, starting at two-loop order \Gamma receives contributions involving color and momentum correlations between three (and more) partons. The three-parton correlations can be described by two universal functions F_1 and f_2. Some remarks on dipole showers and the DGLAP equation

It has been argued recently that parton showers based on colour dipoles conflict with collinear factorization and do not lead to the correct DGLAP equation. We show that this conclusion is based on an inappropriate assumption, namely the choice of the gluon energy as evolution variable. We further show numerically that Monte Carlo programs based on dipole showers with "infrared sensible" evolution variables reproduce the DGLAP equation both in asymptotic form as well as in comparison to the leading behaviour of second-order QCD matrix elements.
Transverse energy from minijets in ultrarelativistic nuclear collisions: a next-to-leading order analysis

We compute in next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD the amount of transverse energy produced into a rapidity region $\Delta Y$ of a nuclear collision from partons created in the few-GeV subcollisions. The NLO formulation assumes collinear factorization and is based on the subtraction method. We first study the results as a function of the minimum transverse momentum scale and define and determine the associated $K$-factors. The dependence of the NLO results on the scale choice and on the size of $\Delta Y$ is also studied. The calculations are performed for GRV94 and CTEQ5 sets of parton distributions. The large $$N_{c}$$ limit of QCD on the lattice

We review recent progress in the study of the large $N_c$ limit of gauge theories from lattice simulations. The focus is not only the planar limit but also the size of ${\mathcal O}(N_c^{-1})$ corrections for values of $N_c\gtrsim 3$. Some concrete examples of the topics we include are tests of large-$N_c$ factorization, the topological susceptibility, the glueball, meson and baryon spectra, the chiral dependence of masses and decay constants, and weak matrix elements related to the $\Delta I=1/2$ rule in kaon decays.
Description of the spacelike and timelike proton form factors at large momentum transfer in the QCD factorization approach

Abstract We propose QCD factorization approach for description of the soft spectator scattering contribution. It is expected that such contribution is very important for description of the many exclusive processes at moderate values of Q 2 . Assuming the dominance of this mechanism we provide qualitative consideration of the proton form factors in the spacelike and timelike regions. Using the same approach we also provide estimates of the cross sections for the processes γ γ → p p and p p → γ γ at large energy and momentum transfer.
Infra-Red Asymptotic Dynamics of Gauge Invariant Charged Fields: QED versus QCD

The freedom one has in constructing locally gauge invariant charged fields in gauge theories is analyzed in full detail and exploited to construct, in QED, an electron field whose two-point function W(p), up to the fourth order in the coupling constant, is normalized with on-shell normalization conditions and is, nonetheless, infra-red finite; as a consequence the radiative corrections vanish on the mass shell $p^2=\mu^2$ and the free field singularity is dominant, although, in contrast to quantum field theories with mass gap, the eigenvalue $\mu^2$ of the mass operator is not isolated. Heavy Quark Production in pp Collisions

A systematic study of the inclusive single heavy quark and heavy-quark pair production cross sections in pp collisions is presented for RHIC and LHC energies. We compare with existing data when possible. The dependence of the rates on the renormalization and factorization scales is discussed. Predictions of the cross sections are given for two different sets of parton distribution functions.
