Recognition memory and prefrontal cortex: Dissociating recollection and familiarity processes using rTMS
2008
Recognition memory can be supported by both the assessment of the familiarity of an item and by the recollection of the context in which an item was encountered. The neural substrates of these memory processes are controversial. To address these issues we applied repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) over the right and left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) of healthy subjects performing a remember/know task. rTMS disrupted familiarity judgments when applied before encoding of stimuli over both right and left DLPFC. rTMS disrupted recollection when applied before encoding of stimuli over the right DLPFC. These findings suggest that the DLPFC plays a critical role in recog…
Adultescenti e giovani adulti. Aspetti educativi della famiglia “lunga”
2019
The essay starts as a reflection about the changes of the transition to adulthood in contemporary life, it is a presentation focusing on the issue of identity construction in relation to the structural variables that condition the lifestyle of the young adult and their relationship with the family of origin. The adult’s task is a generative task aimed to increase and develop the next generation; therefore, we speak about a task that delineates itself as essentially educational. However, the discussion allows to see an education requirement/emergency that is not only young people but also adults; there is a priority to educate the adult society to take and rewrite their generative role.
A combined electrophysiological and morphological examination of episodic memory decline in amnestic mild cognitive impairment.
2013
Early stages of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) are characterized by neuropathological changes within the medial temporal lobe cortex (MTLC), which lead to characteristic impairments in episodic memory, i.e., amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). Here, we tested the neural correlates of this memory impairment using event-related potentials (ERPs) and voxel-based morphometry. Twenty-four participants were instructed to encode lists of words and were tested in a yes/no recognition memory task. The dual-process model of recognition memory dissociates between acontextual familiarity and recollection of contextual details. The early frontal ERP old/new-effect, which is thought to represent a neura…
LA CREAZIONE DI SCUOLE PER GENITORI NELLE ISTITUZIONI PUBBLICHE
2013
Amnesia and the hippocampus
2006
PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Long-term memory impairments have great medical significance and a considerable health and economic burden. Understanding their cognitive and neuroanatomical underpinnings is of crucial importance. Severe amnesia is usually observed following bilateral hippocampal pathology. This review addresses the precise role of the hippocampus and related medial temporal lobe structures in amnesia. RECENT FINDINGS: Disagreements exist over whether, following selective hippocampal damage: retrograde amnesia for episodic memories is temporally limited or extensive and ungraded; anterograde amnesia involves both recollective and familiarity processes. It is accepted that material specif…
Anticipated Grief in Relatives of People with Alzheimer's Disease: Discourse Analysis
2021
2013
The Alzheimer’s disease is nowadays known all around the world, however not everybody is aware of the aftermath that this disease produces in those who suffer it directly and indirectly. There is even less awareness of the importance of providing care to those who give care. Therefore I decided to conduct a little research to know the profile of people with Alzheimer and their caregivers residing in the Vall d’Albaida area (Valencia, Spain) and to analyze the services that are provided to them in order to detect whether they are sufficient or they could be improved. The results of the research are shown below; however I would like to “disclose” that it is necessary to get a greater involvem…
In this thesis we study the architectural programs initiated by…

REPRODUCTIVE SUCCESS OF EURASIAN TREECREEPERS,CERTHIA FAMILIARIS,LOWER IN TERRITORIES WITH WOOD ANTS
1999
Few studies have considered the effects of interspecific competition between distantly related taxa on the reproductive success of individuals. We compared the food supply, laying date, clutch size, and breeding success of a small double-brooded passerine bird, the Eurasian Treecreeper (Certhia familiaris) between territories with or without col- onies of red wood ants (Formica rufa group) during four years. Both the wood ants and Eurasian Treecreepers forage on tree trunks and utilize the same food resources. It has been shown that the wood ants are able to depress the available food supply for the treecreepers and interfere with their foraging behavior. We found that food abundance was lo…
