Objective: To investigate associations of family-related factors with children's breakfast consumption and BMI-z-score and to examine whether children's breakfast consumption mediates associations between family-related factors and children's BMI-z-score. Aim: To assess the relationship between number of meals eaten and weight status, and to assess potential confounders of this relationship. Methods: A total of 2870 (participation rate: 85%) 9th and 10th graders (mean age: 15.5 years) at 33 schools completed questionnaires in May 2005. Number of meals was measured with questions asking whether they ate breakfast, lunch, dinner, and supper the day before, giving a scale ranging from zero to four meals/day. Fatigue crack propagation from a cold-worked hole

Abstract The cold expansion process is widely used to enhance the fatigue life of structures with fastener holes. Various studies assert that the cold expansion improves the fatigue strength of fastener holes; however, the improvement of fatigue life is difficult to quantify. Therefore, the influence on fatigue life of cold-worked process was studied by numerical and experimental tests. Then, a parametric study on material hardening behavior and Bauschinger’s parameter was performed for several loading conditions in order to determine their effect on crack growth propagation. The results of the numerical tests have exhibited a good prediction of the fatigue life of the component.

This article examines the nature of neoliberal influences upon educational policy making in the Finnish education system in recent times. The article draws upon key policy documents, government reports, journal articles and media articles about reforms in the early childhood, basic/compulsory school and vocational education and training sectors to evidence these processes. Analytically, these reforms are understood as instances of what has been referred to as ‘fast policy’. The outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria consists of a tight lattice of lipopolysaccharides (LPS), phospholipids, and proteins. It has been shown in E. coli and S. typhimurium that LPS molecules are exclusively localized in the outer layer of the outer membrane (Muhlradt and Golecki 1975; Smit et al. 1975; Funatura and Nikaido 1980). Localization of proteins in the outer membrane is also indicated by the fact that various major outer membrane proteins in association with LPS, serve as receptors for phages (Datta et al. 1977; Mu-TOH et al. 1978; Henning and Jann 1979; Yu and Mizushima 1982) and colicins (Kadner et al. 1979; Konisky 1979).
