The orientational glass studied by nuclear magnetic resonance
1997
Single crystals of the orientational glass have been studied using iodine NMR for temperatures 1.8 K < T < 300 K. Two-dimensional spectroscopy has shown that the quadrupole-perturbed central transitions are predominantly inhomogeneously broadened. The orientational glass transition is already accompanied by a considerable increase of that broadening in the regime of fast motion. Evidence for a random-field smearing of the random-bond-induced freezing process is obtained. Measurements of the spin - lattice relaxation time reveal the existence of a broad distribution of orientational correlation times at low temperatures.
A study of fusion - fission atZ= 107
1997
An experiment was performed with the EUROGAM II array to investigate the reaction channels that are open in the fusion of a beam on the actinide target at a series of energies around the Coulomb barrier. The symmetric fission products identified from the level structures seem to suggest that a proton and neutrons are emitted prior to fission.
Production of Sn and Sb isotopes in high-energy neutron induced fission of natU
2018
The first systematic measurement of neutron-induced fission yields has been performed at the upgraded IGISOL-4 facility at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. The fission products from high-energy neutron-induced fission of nat U were stopped in a gas cell filled with helium buffer gas, and were online separated with a dipole magnet. The isobars, with masses in the range A = 128-133 , were transported to a tape-implantation station and identified using γ -spectroscopy. We report here the relative cumulative isotopic yields of tin (Z = 50) and the relative independent isotopic yields of antimony (Z = 51). Isomeric yield ratios were also obtained for five nuclides. The yields of tin show a …
On the condition number of the antireflective transform
2010
Abstract Deconvolution problems with a finite observation window require appropriate models of the unknown signal in order to guarantee uniqueness of the solution. For this purpose it has recently been suggested to impose some kind of antireflectivity of the signal. With this constraint, the deconvolution problem can be solved with an appropriate modification of the fast sine transform, provided that the convolution kernel is symmetric. The corresponding transformation is called the antireflective transform. In this work we determine the condition number of the antireflective transform to first order, and use this to show that the so-called reblurring variant of Tikhonov regularization for …
Pressurized liquid extraction coupled to liquid chromatography for the analysis of ochratoxin A in breakfast and infants cereals from Morocco
2010
Abstract A sensitive and reliable method using pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) and liquid chromatography (LC) has been developed for the analysis of ochratoxin A (OTA) in breakfast and infants cereals. Influence of several extraction solvents that affect PLE efficiency was studied. The selected PLE operating method was: 10 g of sample was packed into 22 ml stainless-steel cell and OTA was extracted with acetonitrile/water (80:20) at 40 °C, 34 atm in one cycle of 5 min at 60% flush. The mean recovery of OTA was 82 ± 4 at fortification level of 3 ng/g OTA. The limit of quantification (LOQ) of OTA was 0.25 ng/g. The proposed method was successfully applied to the analysis of 68 samples of …
Apulian olive sapwood endophytes to cope with Xylella fastidiosa: community analysis, antagonists screening, colonization efficiency, and genes expre…
2021
This dissertation comprises a series of studies aimed at exploring the cultivable endophytic communities indigenous to the sapwood of Apulian olive cultivars, identifying potential antagonists against Xylella fastidiosa, pauca ST53, and demonstrating their colonization efficiency and associated effects on olive defence-related genes. This work starts with an extensive analysis of cultivable sapwood endophytes from resistant and susceptible cultivars distributed across phytosanitary zones in Apulia. After multiple isolation of endophyte colonies, the results were translated into quantitative indicators. It was found that the resistant cultivar 'Leccino' showed high stability and diversity of…
Impact of dietary intervention on serum neurofilament light chain in multiple sclerosis
2021
Background and ObjectivesAdapted ketogenic diet (AKD) and caloric restriction (CR) have been suggested as alternative therapeutic strategies for multiple sclerosis (MS), but information on their impact on neuroaxonal damage is lacking. Thus, we explored the impact of diets on serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) levels in patients with relapsing-remitting MS.MethodsWe retrospectively evaluated a prospective randomized controlled trial of 60 patients with MS who were on a common diet or ketogenic diet or fasting. We examined sNfL levels of 40 participants at baseline and at the end of the study after 6 months using single molecule array assay.ResultssNfL levels were investigated in 9 contr…
Ten-year assessment of a cancer fast-track programme to connect primary care with oncology: reducing time from initial symptoms to diagnosis and trea…
2021
Background Cancer is the second leading cause of mortality worldwide. Integrating different levels of care by implementing screening programmes, extending diagnostic tools and applying therapeutic advances may increase survival. We implemented a cancer fast-track programme (CFP) to shorten the time between suspected cancer symptoms, diagnosis and therapy initiation. Patients and methods Descriptive data were collected from the 10 years since the CFP was implemented (2009-2019) at the Clinico-Malvarrosa Health Department in Valencia, Spain. General practitioners (GPs), an oncology coordinator and 11 specialists designed guidelines for GP patient referral to the CFP, including criteria for br…
Highly-chirped similaritons generation from a mode-locked fiber laser
2007
In this communication, we report experimental and numerical results on dynamics and propagation of self-similar pulses in a passively mode-locked ytterbium doped DC fiber laser.
Smooth and stable supercontinuum generation with standard photonic crystal fibers
2008
We identify some simple-to-fabricate photonic crystal fibers, with only two families of air-hole sizes, which provide a wide, smooth and highly-coherent supercontinuum.
