Guest-Induced Folding of the N-Benzyl Substituents in an Ammonium Resorcinarene Chloride and the Formation of a Halogen-Bonded Dimer of Capsules

In methanol, N-benzyl ammonium resorcinarene chloride (Bn-NARCl) crystallizes as a solvate with the benzyl groups oriented in an open flower-like manner parallel to the cation–anion seam. 1,4-Dioxane as guest triggers a “semi-closed” single-molecule capsule with two benzyl “arms” enclosing the guest. The introduction of halogen bond (XB) donor 1,4-diiodoperfluorobutane (1,4-DIOFB) additionally folds the remaining two benzyl arms thus resulting in a fully closed capsule. Two 1,4-DIOFB molecules bridge two such Bn-NARCl capsules, forming a 2:2:2 XB held dimeric assembly of single-molecule capsules. Bei der Imidazolsynthese aus α-Bromketonen und Formiminoethylester in flussigem Ammoniak werden α-alkylsubstituierte Buttersaure-Amide als Nebenprodukte erhalten, deren Entstehen einer Favorskii-Umlagerung zugeschrieben wird. Die isolierten Verbindungen wurden NMR-spektroskopisch untersucht. NMR Spectroscopy of Heterocycles. VI: Favorskii Rearrangement of α-Bromo-β-methoxy Ketones During Imidazole Cyclisation in Liquid Ammonia. During imidazole synthesis with α-bromo ketones and formiminic ethyl ester in liquid ammonia α-alkylbutyric amides were obtained as by-products. Their formation is attributed to a Favorskii rearrangement. The compounds were investigated by NMR spectroscopy.

Spatial analysis of lanner falcon habitat preferences: Implications for agro-ecosystems management at landscape scale and raptor conservation

Abstract Sicily hosts the largest European population of the endangered lanner falcon, a poorly known species which needs conservation planning based on habitat preferences. A distribution model on 10 × 10 km cells of Sicily was described using Generalized Linear Models and variation partitioning methods. This modelling approach extracted explanatory factors, pure and joint effects of greatest influence from subsets of variables controlled for multi-collinearity and spatial autocorrelation. Community intervention in the “613 houses district” in Burjassot (Valencia) cannot be understood without the Escoles Esportives 613 Vivendes association. This association was set up in 1994 through the endeavours of social agents existing at the time in the district: 613 Housing Neighbourhood Association, the Manantial Association for Human and Cultural Promotion, and Burjassot’s basic team of municipal Social Services, as well as a group of young people who thought that one way to ensure the promotion of children in underprivileged neighbourhoods was through practising sports.
