Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of [N(CH3)4][2,2′-Fe(1,7-closo-C2B9H11)2]

2017

This work investigates the meta-ferrabis(dicarbollide) anion that was isolated as salt of tetramethylammonium. The structure of the obtained crystal consisted of discrete [2,2′-Fe(1,7-closo-C2B9H11)2]− anions and disordered [N(CH3)4]+ cations. The anion had a considerable chemical stability ensured by ionic and Van der Waals interactions. Thus, Hirshfeld surfaces and fingerprint plot were used to visualize, explore, and quantify intermolecular interactions in the crystal lattice of the title compound. This investigation proved that close contacts were dominated by H⋯H interactions. peerReviewed

Francesco Paolo Neglia, direttore d'orchestra

2013

2022

The preventive archaeological excavations conducted by Inrap under the direction of Édith Peytremann in 2010, in the commune of Pfulgriesheim in the Kochersberg region, led to the discovery of a settlement sector occupied from the middle of the 7th century to the end of the 11th century. The singularity of the site lies in the absence of any pole constructions and the subdivision of the sector, from the 10th century onwards, by building on cellars associated with excavated huts, pits, and silos. The dynamics tend to show a retraction of the latter from the beginning of the 8th century to the middle of the 10th century, while it is marked by the presence of a funerary complex arranged along …

Mentoring of Newly Qualified Teachers in the Educational Sense

2017

The importance of lifelong learning in teachers’ professional development has become increasingly topical issue globally. In teaching, especially the transition from education to occupation seems to be more challenging compared to other fields. It is evident that under the rapidly changing circumstances teachers’ professional knowledge has to be constantly renewed, and especially in the phase of transition from teacher education to working life, new approaches are needed. peerReviewed

Spatial analysis of lanner falcon habitat preferences: Implications for agro-ecosystems management at landscape scale and raptor conservation

2014

Abstract Sicily hosts the largest European population of the endangered lanner falcon, a poorly known species which needs conservation planning based on habitat preferences. A distribution model on 10 × 10 km cells of Sicily was described using Generalized Linear Models and variation partitioning methods. This modelling approach extracted explanatory factors, pure and joint effects of greatest influence from subsets of variables controlled for multi-collinearity and spatial autocorrelation. Analytical cartography used the environmental favourability function to assess habitat preferences, and the insecurity index estimated the degree to which lanner falcon occupancy is represented in the Na…

Age, lithology and structural evolution of the c. 3.53 Ga Theespruit Formation in the Tjakastad area, southwestern Barberton Greenstone Belt, South A…

2009

Abstract A field and petrographic re-assessment of rocks from the Theespruit Formation near Tjakastad, southwestern Barberton Greenstone Belt, is combined with new zircon U–Pb ages and whole-rock Sm–Nd isotopic results to reveal several important inconsistencies with a previous thrust-accretion model for this area. It was found that faults previously interpreted as ‘thrusts’ are extensional, ‘thrust slices of basement orthogneiss’ are little deformed quartz-feldspar porphyries or sheared felsic volcaniclastic sedimentary rocks, and ‘sedimentary diamictites’ are felsic agglomerates. These observations, combined with consistent facing directions of bedding, the recognition of distinct stratig…

Context of validation of non-formal and informal learning in Spain: a comprehensive view

2019

The system of validation and accreditation of professional qualifications in Spain is offered as a certification opportunity, especially for vulnerable groups. The procedure is presented as an evaluative proposal that allows some inequalities associated with training and employment to be addressed. In this article we analyse whether this system really fosters social cohesion, considering the political situation that frames the procedure and the educational approach underlying it. The research methodology combines the documentary analysis and interviews with the application of the Delphi method. The most relevant results show that the socio-political context is favourable to competences accr…
