One of the first important acts of Charles Jean XIV as head of Sweden was to renounce the idea of reconquering Finland. It was a difficult position to take, considering the conditions of the time, and in all likelihood, he swung back and forth for several months before taking a definitive decision, contrary to what he might have asserted later. Moreover, the regent, then sovereign, of Sweden, was forced to justify his choice throughout his reign and to navigate between the dangerous reefs of a diverse opposition , which was organised to varying degrees.Thus, the Finnish policy was, for another thirty years, a thorn in the side of the royal power at Stockholm.

Plantinga’s Haecceitism and Simple Quantified Modal Logic

In a series of papers Alvin Plantinga argued for a serious actualist modal semantics based on the notions of possible world, understood as maximal possible state of affairs, and of individual essence (haecceity). Plantinga’s actualism is known as haecceitism. In spite of the fact that haecceitism has been thought by Plantinga to require a Kripke-style semantics, the aim of this paper is to show that it is compatible with constant domains semantics and the simplest quantified modal logic. I will argue that not only does this approach have all the advantages of a greater simplicity in combining quantification and modalities, but also it better conforms to the actualist program.

Prays oleae is a serious pest of the olive tree in the Mediterranean basin. This phytophagous infests fruits (carpophagous generation) and leaves (phyllophagous generation). In cases of high population densities crop losses, caused mainly by fruit drop, may be heavy. L’articolo discute alcuni caratteri architettonici del centro commerciale inteso come impianto su cui la riflessione disciplinare può operare nuovi indirizzi di intervento, attraverso una lettura genealogica con particolare riferimento alla pianta. L’ideale dell’open space, ipotesi di totale libertà della pianta senza tramezzi divisori, viene acquisito negli ultimi trent’anni del Novecento dagli architetti radicali.
