Validation of a Shear Model for RC and Hybrid Beams with Two Different Inclinations of Transversal Reinforcement

The validation of an analytical model recently proposed for evaluation of the shear capacity in Reinforced Concrete (RC) beams containing multiple inclination of transverse stirrups is presented. The model is a suitable extension of that currently proposed in Eurocode 2 for the evaluation of the shear resistance, and it is derived by means of the the variable-inclination stressfield theory based on Nielsen’s plastic approach. Direct democracy allows citizens to reverse decisions made by legislatures and even initiate new laws which parliaments are unwilling to pass, thereby, as its proponents argue, leading to more representative policies than would have obtained under a purely representative democracy. Yet, turnout in referendums is usually lower than in parliamentary elections and tends to be skewed towards citizens of high socio-economic status. Phytochemical investigation of the needles of Abies nebrodensis (Lojac.) Mattei

Abies nebrodensis (Lojac.) Mattei (Pinaceae) is a species living in a very small population only in a confined area of Sicily. In this study, the dichloromethane extract of the leaves was analyzed. Apart from three already known metabolites namely dehydroabietic acid; maltol; and rheosmin, previously detected in other species of Abies, a lanostane derivative was isolated. Its chemical structure was elucidated by means of extensive spectroscopic methods.
Nascita e sviluppo della ricerca empirica in campo didattico in Italia

Si ritiene che la ricerca didattica in Italia si sia riavviata intorno al 1950 per il contatto con le scuole statunitensi, per la diffusione delle opere di Dewey e per la nascita dell’Istituto Superiore di Pedagogia della congregazione salesiana. Si ricostruisce il periodo pioneristico della ricerca empirica in campo didattico con il contributo di Calonghi e Visalberghi. Si segnalano alcuni eventi significativi che, intorno alla metà degli anni Settanta, contribuirono all’affermazione della Didattica come scienza dell’insegnamento-apprendimento. Si indicano le principali linee di ricerca empirica in Didattica presenti nell’attuale panorama scientifico italiano.

[Background] It is unknown whether individuals at high cardiovascular risk sustain a benefit in cardiovascular disease from increased olive oil consumption. The aim was to assess the association between total olive oil intake, its varieties (extra virgin and common olive oil) and the risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality in a Mediterranean population at high cardiovascular risk.
