The “psychosociological turn” of the sociology of language entails a new attention paid to the role of agency in language use. But this new approach can be coherent and complete only by taking into account the historical and political circumstances of language use, as well as the whole set of factors determining the processes by which social meanings are created and distributed. This paper summarizes articles and books about Catalan stylistics ans pragmatics. Variational research in catalan sociolinguistic describes standard, literary, and conversational forms. The paper explains the contents of these studies and distinguishes between oral and writing code. Emphasis is put on some aspects of variations, such as field of discourse, tone and tenor, wich determine the kind of registers. As it seems, Catalan does not have a system which, as in the case of related languages (like for instance Occitan boui-abaisso; French tournevire; Spanish muerdehuye), allows to form new nouns by means of assembling two verbal forms of Imperative. Prof. Colón studies some of the few instances where this special construction has been documented in Catalan and he reaches the conclusion that all of them seem to be loans from other languages.

La identificació del camp amb la genuïnitat no és exclusiva de la cultura catalana. L’article analitza la construcció d’aquest mite en la literatura catalana del segle xix, prestant particular atenció a la derivació patriòtica que uneix paisatge, habitants i tradicions rurals amb la Catalunya real que lentament anava desapareixent com a resultat de les revolucions polítiques i industrials. El mite de la terra alta ha proporcionat símbols tan freqüentment utilitzats com ara el de la barretina (un tipus de capell) i la muntanya, així com alguns debats ben interessants sobre l’organització tradicional de la família i els contrastos entre camp-ciutat i tradició-revolució.

The lost literature of an author provides data that, in spite of being partial, are important to better understand his preserved work and the complexity of his literary work. This article offers an approach to the losses experienced by Joan Roís de Corella’s literature down the centuries, in the full meaning of the term. It focuses on the analysis of the sources that supply information to establish a catalogue of these losses, as a starting point for subsequent work concerning the causes and periods of the disappearances.
