X-ray Spectroscopy of (Ba,Sr,La)(Fe,Zn,Y)O3-δIdentifies Structural and Electronic Features Favoring Proton Uptake

Mixed protonic–electronic conducting oxides are key functional materials for protonic ceramic fuel cells. Here, (Ba,Sr,La)(Fe,Zn,Y)O3−δ perovskites are comprehensively investigated by X-ray spectroscopy (in oxidized and reduced states). Extended X-ray absorption fine structure shows that Zn,Y doping strongly increases the tendency for Fe–O–Fe buckling. X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy at the Fe K-edge and X-ray Raman scattering at the O K edge demonstrate that both iron and oxygen states are involved when the samples are oxidized, and for the Zn,Y doped materials, the hole transfer from iron to oxygen is less pronounced. Using photoelectron emission microscopy with hard-X-rays

We present several successful test cases of using photoelectron emission microscopy (PEEM) for photon energy up to 25 keV. First, the full extended X-ray absorption fine structure analysis was implemented in areas as small as 100 mum(2) for transition-metal K edge absorption spectra and, therefore, demonstrated the feasibility of combining structural and chemical analysis with hard-X-ray absorption spectroscopy with high lateral resolution. Preparation and XAFS studies of organotin(IV) complexes with adenosine and related compounds and calf thymus DNA

Complexes of adenosine and related compounds (adenosine-5’-monophosphate, adenosine-5’-triphosphate and pyridoxal-5-phosphate) with Bu2SnO and/or BuSnCl2 were prepared in the solid state. The compositions of the complexes were determined by standard analytical methods. It was found that the complexes contain the organotin(IV) moiety and the ligand in a ratio of 1:1. The FT-IR spectra demonstrated that Bu2SnO reacts with the D-ribose moiety of the ligands, while Bu2SnCl2 is coordinated to the deprotonated phosphate group. Physicochemical Investigation of the Solubilization of Ytterbium Nitrate in AOT Reverse Micelles and Liquid Crystals

A wide investigation of the solubilization of the water-soluble salt Yb(NO3)(3) in sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT) reverse micelles and AOT liquid crystals has been carried out. After saturation of water/AOT/organic solvent w/o microemulsions with pure Yb(NO3)(3), the Yb(NO3)(3)/AOT composites were prepared by complete evaporation under vacuum of the volatile components (water and organic solvent) of the salt-containing microemulsions. It was observed that these composites can be totally dissolved in pure n-heptane or CCl4, allowing the solubilization of a noticeable amount of Yb(NO3)(3) in quite dry apolar media. SELECTIVE AMPLIFICATION OF NARROW RESONANCE FORMED IN TRANSMISSION SPECTRUM OF Rb NANO-CELL IN MAGNETIC FIELD

Recently it was shown that "λ-Zeeman Technique" (λ-ZT) is a convenient tool to study individual transitions between the Zeeman sublevels of hyperfine levels in an external magnetic field. λ-ZT is based on resonant transmission spectrum of nanometric thin cell (NTC) of thickness L = λ, where λ is the resonant wavelength 794 nm for Rb D1 line. Narrow velocity selective optical pumping (VSOP) resonances in the transmission spectrum of the NTC are split into several components in a magnetic field. IM-17: a new zeolitic material, synthesis and structure elucidation from electron diffraction ADT data and Rietveld analysis

International audience; The synthesis and the structure of IM-17, a new germanosilicate with a novel zeolitic topology, prepared hydrothermally with decamethonium as the organic structure directing agent, are reported. The structure of calcined and partially rehydrated IM-17 of chemical formula per unit cell |(H2O)14.4|[Si136.50Ge39.50O352] was solved ab initio using electron diffraction ADT data in the acentric Amm2 (setting Cm2m) space group and refined by the Rietveld method. This new zeolite framework type contains a 3D pore system made of intersecting 12, 10 and 8-ring channels.

Effects of redox treatments on the structural composition of a ceria–zirconia oxide for application in the three-way catalysis

Abstract The influence of calcination and redox cycles on the structural modification and redox properties of a ceria–zirconia mixed oxide of nominal composition Ce 0.6 Zr 0.4 O 2 were investigated by XRD and Rietveld refinement, by BET measurement, TPR and OSC analyses. The material is characterized by high total OSC and retains this property after several redox and calcination cycles up to 1273 K, despite the loss of porosity and the decrease of surface area. Spatial correction in dynamic photon emission by affine transformation matrix estimation

International audience; Photon emission microscopy and Time Resolved Imaging have proved their efficiency for defect localization on VLSI. A common process to find defect candidate locations is to draw a comparison between acquisitions on a normally working device and a faulty one. In order to be accurate and meaningful, this method requires that the acquisition scene remains the same between the two parts. In practice, it can be difficult to set. In this paper, a method to correct position by affine matrix transformation is suggested. It is based on image features detection, description and matching and affine transformation estimation.
