Eine neue experimentelle Methode zur Behandlung von Beckenwandrezidiven gynäkologischer Malignome

1989

Pelvic side wall recurrences of gynecological malignancies subsequent to primary or adjuvant radiation therapy have a bad prognosis, although in almost half of the cases, distant metastases are not present at the time of diagnosis of the local tumor progression. A radical operative resection of the pelvic wall recurrence is rarely possible and a second conventional percutaneous or intracavitary irradiation with a tumoricidal dose is no longer feasible, because of the limited radiation tolerance of the surrounding pelvic tissue. The different forms of chemotherapy applied at present are not curative. Based on considerations of tumor and radiation biology, we propose a new experimental treatm…

Fixed constructions in French and Chinese

2017

Languages are not just instruments of communication. Claude Hagège (2012: 181) reminds that all languages are rooted in a pool of knowledge, sensations, memories, images, dreams, which are the fabric of a speaker's competence. Languages are very complex and multidimensional phenomena. However, it is impossible to carry out a complete study of languages, without taking into account a generalized and pervasive phenomenon: the fixedness. In light of a great deal of progress which has been made by the research on phraseology, we realize that many gray areas still exist; indeed, some true mysteries remain to be unraveled. Contrastive studies have always helped to advance knowledge of language, es…

Process-independent strong running coupling

2016

We unify two widely different approaches to understanding the infrared behaviour of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), one essentially phenomenological, based on data, and the other computational, realised via quantum field equations in the continuum theory. Using the latter, we explain and calculate a process-independent running-coupling for QCD, a new type of effective charge that is an analogue of the Gell-Mann--Low effective coupling in quantum electrodynamics. The result is almost identical to the process-dependent effective charge defined via the Bjorken sum rule, which provides one of the most basic constraints on our knowledge of nucleon spin structure. This reveals the Bjorken sum to be…

Calvin-Benson Cycle

2015

A carbon dioxide fixation pathway where a molecule of CO2 condenses with a 5-C compound (ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate) to yield two molecules of a 3-C compound (3-phosphoglycerate). These 3-C molecules serve both as precursors for biosynthesis and, through a cyclic series of enzymatic reactions, to regenerate the 5-C molecule necessary for the first carboxylating step (Fig. 1). The pathway is present in several bacterial lineages (e.g., cyanobacteria), and its acquisition by eukaryotic cells (chloroplast in algae and plants) was through the endosymbiotic association with ancient cyanobacteria.

Some new fixed point results in non-Archimedean fuzzy metric spaces

2013

In this paper, we introduce the notions of fuzzy $(\alpha,\beta,\varphi)$-contractive mapping, fuzzy $\alpha$-$\phi$-$\psi$-contractive mapping and fuzzy $\alpha$-$\beta$-contractive mapping and establish some results of fixed point for this class of mappings in the setting of non-Archimedean fuzzy metric spaces. The results presented in this paper generalize and extend some recent results in fuzzy metric spaces. Also, some examples are given to support the usability of our results.

A New Approach to the Generalization of Darbo’s Fixed Point Problem by Using Simulation Functions with Application to Integral Equations

2019

We investigate the existence of fixed points of self-mappings via simulation functions and measure of noncompactness. We use different classes of additional functions to get some general contractive inequalities. As an application of our main conclusions, we survey the existence of a solution for a class of integral equations under some new conditions. An example will be given to support our results.

Periodontal outcomes of anterior fixed partial dentures on teeth treated with the biologically oriented preparation technique: A 6-year prospective c…

2021

Abstract Statement of problem One of the most frequent complications in participants with fixed partial dentures (FPDs) is the apical migration of the gingival margin, which may be associated with factors such as fit, gingival margin location, or tooth preparation type. The prevalence of the complication in participants restored with FPDs prepared by using the biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT) is unclear. Purpose The purpose of this prospective clinical trial was to evaluate the clinical and biologic outcomes of FPDs on teeth prepared by using the BOPT, over a 6-year follow-up period. Material and methods Tooth-supported zirconia FPDs in the anterior region prepared by usin…

Beyond decomposition: Processing zero-derivations in English visual word recognition

2019

Four experiments investigate the effects of covert morphological complexity during visual word recognition. Zero-derivations occur in English in which a change of word class occurs without any change in surface form (e.g., a boat-to boat; to soak-a soak). Boat is object-derived and is a basic noun (N), whereas soak is action-derived and is a basic verb (V). As the suffix {-ing} is only attached to verbs, deriving boating from its base, requires two steps, boat(N) > boat(V) > boating(V), while soaking can be derived in one step from soak(V). Experiments 1 to 3 used masked priming at different prime durations to test matched sets of one- and two-step verbs for morphological (soaking-SOA…

Subliminal Perception, Microgenesis, and Personality

1986

Publisher Summary In person perception, the interpersonal dimension is useful, as is implicated in communicating personal contents. The problem of consciousness is intimately connected with that of knowledge based on subjective experience and perception by means of which it is mediated. This chapter presents the theories that incorporate the subject–object relationships into a comprehensive observational framework. They also emphasize the coherence of subject and environment. The perceiver is viewed as an active subject; the rhythmic properties of all living phenomena are highlighted. The long-term effect of “selective visual exposure” in the early stages of development upon functional cell…
