Formation of novel PRDM9 allele by indel events as possible trigger for tarsier-anthropoid split

AbstractPRDM9is currently the sole speciation gene found in vertebrates causing hybrid sterility probably due to incompatible alleles. Its role in defining the double strand break loci during the meiotic prophase I is crucial for proper chromosome segregation. Therefore, the rapid turnover of the loci determining zinc finger array seems to be causative for incompatibilities. We here investigated the zinc finger domain-containing exon ofPRDM9in 23 tarsiers. Tarsiers, the most basal extant haplorhine primates, exhibit two frameshifting indels at the 5’-end of the array. Compatibility of Rhizobial Genotypes within Natural Populations of Rhizobium leguminosarum Biovar viciae for Nodulation of Host Legumes

ABSTRACT Populations of Rhizobium leguminosarum biovar viciae were sampled from two bulk soils, rhizosphere, and nodules of host legumes, fava bean ( Vicia faba ) and pea ( Pisum sativum ) grown in the same soils. Additional populations nodulating peas, fava beans, and vetches ( Vicia sativa ) grown in other soils and fava bean-nodulating strains from various geographic sites were also analyzed. The relationship between child health, developmental gaps, and parental education: Evidence from administrative data

We use administrative German data to examine the role of physical and mental health conditions in explaining developmental gaps between children whose parents have different educational levels. Specifically, we employ sibling fixed effect models to estimate the effect of a comprehensive list of childhood health conditions – diagnosed by government physicians – on the cognitive and verbal ability of pre-school children. We also apply decomposition methods to examine the extent to which gaps in child development can be attributed to child health conditions. What drives morphological change?

This paper investigates the role of syntactic, semantic, and lexical factors in the diachronic development of German nominalization patterns. Drawing on an extensive corpus analysis of Early New High German and New High German texts, it is shown that (a) deverbal nominals in the suffix -ung tend to develop more reified meaning variants, which is reflected in the syntactic patterns in which the word-formation products preferentially occur, and (b) infinitival nominalization becomes more productive and is established as the new default word-formation pattern deriving nouns from verbs. Unified schemas which allow for deriving multiply complex word-formation products are a central concept in Construction Morphology (CxM). The MAREDAT atlas covers 11 types of plankton, ranging in size from bacteria to jellyfish. Together, these plankton groups determine the health and productivity of the global ocean and play a vital role in the global carbon cycle. Working within a uniform and consistent spatial and depth grid (map) of the global ocean, the researchers compiled thousands and tens of thousands of data points to identify regions of plankton abundance and scarcity as well as areas of data abundance and scarcity. A NONHEALING ULCER DIAGNOSED AS EXTRAMEDULLARY PLASMOCYTOMA OF THE LIMB EIGHT YEARS AFTER CARDIAC TRANSPLANTATION

A 63-year-old man was hospitalized for a nonhealing ulcer of the left lower leg that appeared 8 years after orthotopic cardiac transplantation under immunosuppressive therapy including cyclosporine. Serum protein electrophoresis, immunofixation, and urinalysis revealed a monoclonal gammopathy IgG kappa. The final diagnosis of an extramedullary plasmocytoma was made by biopsy of the ulcer, which showed formations of plasmablastic cells. We report a rare case of extramedullary plasmocytoma as a posttransplantational malignancy.

Effect of inoculation with selected Bradyrhizobium spp. on the survival and growth of Acacia mangium saplings after 20 months in the field

This work was designed to test the long-term effect of the inoculation of #Acacia mangium# seedlings with 10 selected strains of #Bradyrhizobium spp.#. The percentage of survival of seedlings inoculated with any of the #Bradyrhizobium# strains was increased by 10% as compared to the control plants. However, out of the 10 #Bradyrhizobium# strains tested, only 3 strains, Aust l3c, Lu 4 and Tel 8, belonging to the phylogenelic group 1, significandy enhanced the growth of #A. mangium# after 20 months in the field. Grammar based content completion method using Lua LPeg.re module

A grammar based content completion method for Lua programming language and its LPeg.re module environment is described in this paper. The use of our method is not demanding in computing resources, as well as it is easy to add the content completion functionality to any target language grammar. We report on the application of our method for OWL Manchester syntax expression grammar, as well as custom database-to-ontology mapping language.
